Pros

1. Overall campus is a nice environment for walking. 2. Opportunities to have positive impact on students and instruction. 3. Tuition benefits for employees and family members. 4. Generous paid-time off for full-time employees. 5. Separate pension, from personal 403b, funded by Christian Brothers.

Cons

1. Lack of communication at the department level; important business decisions are not communicated. 2. Work/Office environment is outdated for most departments; old equipment and uncomfortable desks/chairs, not very pleasant to look at. 3. Feedback mechanism is deficient for most everything; performance reviews, organizational health, policies etc. 4. Pay can be be better; performance/skill based raises non-existent. 5. Management appears out of touch with students and employees alike.

Going downhill fast

Pros

If you like throwing 1000% of your entire life into your job, this is the place for you.

Cons

Admission standards are extremely low, which leads to a lack of rigor in the major courses. Also fond of stacking the adminstration with rejects from law and business, cutting tenure-track positions left and right. Threatens female employees with termination if they speak to anyone about being sexually harassed.

Pros

The tuition benefit is excellent. Your entire family can get their college degrees. The vacation time is good as well along with many holidays and an extended break over Christmas and New Years.

Cons

Salaries are low (unless you are senior management or a professor) and there is not really a way for a real raise as increases are across the board approved by the board and are 2% so whether you are an outstanding employee or dead weight you will get the same raise. Senior management is out of touch with reality when hiring new employees and relies to much on the tuition benefit to significantly undercut starting pay.
