Pros

Diversity and inclusion, what else?

Cons

Unrealistic deadlines and frequent priority changes created a stressful work environment. Management communication often felt disorganized, making it difficult to plan work effectively. Work-life balance has declined over time as expectations increased. Compensation appears below market rates for similar roles in the area. Budget reductions have affected employee events and other workplace perks. HR was not perceived as an effective channel for addressing employee concerns.

Your perspective as a Senior Software Engineer in Raleigh is helpful, especially after several years with the business and during a period of rapid change in technology and AI. It’s good to know that team culture and a sense of belonging have stood out as positives in your experience. You’ve also touched on areas that strongly shape engineering work over time: pace, priorities, communication, workload, and support. Engineering teams do their best work when priorities are clear, communication is steady, and people have room to focus. Across LexisNexis, our technology teams build tools that support real decisions for customers, which brings both responsibility and complexity. Some changes in prioritization reflect the dynamic market we operate in, external competition, and the need to deliver at pace for our customers. At the same time, we are mindful of the impact on teams and continue to monitor workloads and accommodate where possible. Wellbeing is part of how we support that work: many roles include flexible working models, and colleagues have confidential support through our Employee Assistance Program, plus resources for mental, physical, and financial wellbeing. Conversations with managers and HR partners, as well as employee surveys, are also ways colleagues can surface concerns and help leaders focus on alignment and follow-through. Compensation is part of that overall experience as well. Our approach is informed by external market data, role scope, performance, and business context.

It’s good to hear that balance has stood out in your experience as a London-based ML Engineer. Even in a short review, that says something important about the day-to-day environment we want people to have: focused, flexible, and sustainable enough to do meaningful work well. Your role sits close to an exciting part of where LexisNexis is going. Across our business, teams are using AI, data, trusted content, and deep domain knowledge to improve how legal, business, and government professionals work. That creates real responsibility, but also real opportunity for colleagues to keep building skills through practical problem solving, collaboration, and exposure to work that matters beyond any single team. We’re glad the work-life balance is working well for you, and we hope you continue to find strong colleagues, interesting challenges, and room to grow here. Thank you for being part of the team and for sharing your review.

It’s wonderful to read that your experience at LexisNexis included strong work–life balance and good management. From a Senior Data Scientist’s perspective, that combination matters a lot, especially in work that requires focus, collaboration, and room to solve complex problems well. You also touched on compensation, which is an area we approach with structure and care. Pay decisions are guided by external market data, internal role alignment, performance, and the scope of each role. We also look at total rewards more broadly, including incentive opportunities and long-term financial wellbeing resources where they apply, so colleagues are supported beyond base salary alone. The work of our Data Science teams helps power trusted information, analytics, and AI-driven workflows used by customers in high-stakes settings. We’re glad the culture and management support made a positive impression during your time here. Thank you for your contributions to LexisNexis, and all the best in your next chapter!
