Pros

Little contact with upper management. Many skilled and ancillary employees have multiple years of experience. Contracted radiologists are a pleasure to work with.

Cons

Little contact with upper management. Personal department is frequently unhelpful. Healthcare benefits require using a Lifepoint facility to receive maximum benefit.

Pros

I have not found one yet aside from some of the people we worked with that have been wonderful.

Cons

They are terribly unorganized. All implementations are like drinking out of a fire hose. They want it done and do not care how. They are ALL ABOUT THE NUMBERS & BOTTOM LINE! We had a wonderful, amazing community hospital before the merge and now we are 1 of 70. Doesn't that make you feel warm and fuzzy inside when you hear that. It's truly sad to go from a wonderful community hospital to unorganized corporate America. Benefits are not great either.

Pros

Just slightly better than nothing

Cons

Narrow network health coverage at our less than 100 bed facility provides almost no options for surgeons, primary care or specialists yet still comes with high deductible and 10 % copay. Out of network care, likely to be required in all but the most minor illnesses, is only covered at 50% (of their ridiculously low in-network rate) with no out of pocket max which could easily bankrupt you. My out of network care ultimately covered just less than 7% of the total bill. Example, my anesthesia charge was $150 an hour, their supposed network rate was $30 so they paid $15 an hour to my physician anesthesiologist leaving me with with $1050 to pay on a $1200 bill for an 8 hour surgery. All other benefits are provided at Employer cost ...dental, vision, and life insurance can all be purchased on the open market at virtually the same cost but with a much wider array of options. The only really valuable benefit is the State mandated unemployment insurance which I would also get if I went to work for McDonalds. As a recently acquired facility, Lifepoint has been quick to selectively honor provisions of my contract favorable to them while conveniently neglecting the provisions more favorable to me. There is huge physician turnover which continues to make the work environment extremely hostile. Interesting to note that the most favorable reviews are from employees based at corporate HQ in Brentwood, TN. I bet the CEOs health insurance provides him coverage at Vanderbilt in Nashville while most of us are stuck at the small facilities we work for.
