Pros

Learning artistic composition and communicating with subjects. Delight of customers viewing and praising one's work. Doing something funny to capture children smiling.

Cons

Juggling too many customers in addition to phone calls. Photography-to-Sales process can be easily interrupted with customer who show up later than appointment, high volume of phone calls for appointment taking and inquiries, infants that need more time waking up to be photographed, customers who want to spend more time examining which images to order. Disappointing customers who request props shown on the website although not available at the studio. Pressure for high sales despite the fact virtually all customers come in with a coupon.

Pros

The photography we get to create provides families with lifelong memories.

Cons

Employees with years of experience who manage and lead teams of 25+ people, create complicated schedules, put out multiple fires a day, drive countless miles, work upwards of sixty hours a week during peak season, and are STILL expected to be on-camera are still paid hourly, less than $1.50 above the rookie photographers on their team. The photographers themselves are only paid minimum wage, which is an insult when looking at the immense effort they have to put into their work. Lifetouch leadership does not value the artistry and worth of the photographers who carry their company.

Pros

Work with great people across the entire US and Canada. Lots of Shutterfly perks. Healthcare/benefits start day 1. Schedules follow the school year so there is opportunity for lots of vacation during holidays/summer.

Cons

Not much transparency. Comp plans are complicated and change every year and they set unrealistic goals for the type of industry. It doesn't seem the company wants employees to earn commission.
