Don’t do it

Pros

Not living under a bridge

Cons

Cheesy insincere work culture, elaborate scheme to suck money out of desperate parents. The people doing all of the work are poorly compensated and are seen as dispensable. The company hires a massive amount of employees at the start of every summer knowing that over 90% will quit before then, and if you do stay into the school year, your hours will be cut dramatically. Also the company does not recognize the 4th of July as a holiday (The CEO comes from California, by the way) so that they make sure you work without holiday pay. Of course the program works for everyone to a degree, but how could someone not get better at something that they are forced to do over and over and over again.

Pros

Seeing kids grow and make fantastic progress. The programs are really great. There are many opportunities to move up within the company. Good option for summer employment for teachers and recent college graduates. In most locations you can get full time hours each week, even in a seasonal position.

Cons

Burn out is the biggest issue staff face. Some centers are extremely seasonal, but some centers are busy year round. The experience clinicians (staff that work 1:1 with students) have can vary wildly from one center to the next as well. Corporate executives are disconnected from learning centers. They have changed training so that managers have more development and support; however, they demand too much from center management. You are expected to manage sales, grassroots marketing, professional outreach, manage the center, develop staff, and act as a principal for Lindamood-Bell Academy. In management roles, you are expected to give everything to your job. It's not uncommon for people to work 50+ hours a week, and take work home just to keep up with the work load. The salary doesn't match the expectation.

Rewarding Job with Limited Hours

Pros

Learning the tutoring techniques at Lindamood-Bell is valuable and it's rewarding to use it to tutor the children.

Cons

There are sometimes limited hours or odd work schedules. You may get called into work for just a few hours, for a full day, or not at all.
