Pros

I interviewed with Lucky Brand Jeans for a local store, and was extremely satisfied with the pay, compensation package, and work/life balance it provided. The lifestyle that the company provided was a positive one, as they encouraged feedback at first and always the recognition was given. Training was a positive experience and the tools given were great for the developement at your staff. Hiring process for managment is fast, challenging, but rewarding. They create a great team environment.

Cons

Once you get over your new job high, the politics start coming out. The HR department is a disaster. They are more sales driven than people driven. They will visit your stores and ask about goals and how your team is performing, more than dealing with HR issues. It's corporate politics since the company rebranded and became part of LCI. Their open door policy no longer protects you as an employee to have confidential conversations as retaliation does occur, but the HR department always will take care of the upper management first before taking care of your concerns. It sometimes becomes getting rid of YOU before solving the problem. Leadership in certain aspects are great and supportive, but my district manager was incompitent and lacked communication skills. She was more concerned about making things pretty vs. actually leading a team to produce results. Not only that, but unethical and uncomfortable relationships seen within the upper management made it hard who to trust.

Pros

-Excellent product discount (60%) -Great benefits and pay (if you were hired before January 2010) -Customer base is friendly -Good music

Cons

-As of January 2010, Gene and Barry the original founders of Lucky Brand Jeans are no longer a part of the company. This resulted in the product changing, to what the new team at corporate describes as a "J Crew" look, altering the whole aesthetic of Lucky. -Change at corporate brought on pay cuts company wide, as well as a change in benefits, and bonus programs. -District and Regional Managers show favoritism to certain stores/store managers, even though they perform well below what other stores do. -Many stores run with only one full-time manager, making the work/life balance very difficult. Be prepared to work 45-50 hours a week. -The management training program is non-existent, and the policy and procedure manual is outdated, most policies in it are now incorrect so it is useless. -No pay increases are awarded for the management team if the store does not make the year - despite how well your personal performance may be.

Pros

The culture, the clothing, the people, the music, the benefits. I made some lifelong friends and learned a lot. In the beginning, Store Managers were respected, their opinion mattered, and you could reach out to HQ for anything you needed to make your store successful. Hard work paid off and if you wanted to be promoted, you could reach out to your supervisor and they would help put you on the correct path, and constantly give you feedback.

Cons

When I began working there, the company had only 20 retail stores. Each individual was valued and appreciated. By the end of my employment, there were 200+ stores, and it was clear that I wasn't working for the same company. The role of Store Manager changed, as the entire company did, and loyal long term employees were treated as burdens because we weren't adapted to the changes yet. New employees were hired, mostly from larger corporations and chains, and trained on all new policies and procedures. I repeatedly reached out to my District Manager for help and wouldn't receive any sort of response for days or weeks at a time. There were many new expectations, but seasoned employees weren't set up for success with proper training. Within the last six months of my employment with the company, I saw more unhappy and dissatisfied employees (and more turnover) than in the first 7.5 years total. It was very disheartening and disappointing.
