Pros

Highly functional operation. Supply chain and Logistics Team run seamlessly. Management are appreciative of hard work and diligent effort from employees.

Cons

Not enough opportunity for growth. Although there seems to be a push from upper management for all staff to reach for goals, there just is not opportunity to grow due to the immediate supervisor(s) non-involvement in supporting goal fulfillment.

Thank you for your feedback. AAMC considers its employees to be its most valuable asset. Over the past two years, we have implemented additional programs to help our employees find opportunities within the organization. This includes internal career fairs and Expanding Horizons, which features a work/study program. We also offer tuition assistance, certification bonuses and training and workshops including Microsoft Office, LEAD Academy, management classes, resume writing and interviewing tips. We also encourage you to talk to your supervisor on ways you can advance your career at AAMC.

Terrible Medical Benefits

Pros

Beautiful Campus Close to downtown Annapolis

Cons

Medical benefits are expensive and do not cover a lot, even when you are seen at AAMC (example: $150 copay for MRIs and CTs at AA Diagnostics). The benefits are much worse when you see a provider outside AAMC, which is often since AAMC does not offer a wide-range of specialists. The tuition reimbursement is only $3,000 for graduate studies - this does not promote higher education for employees. The various units/departments do not work well together, which negatively impacts not only the employee experience but also the patient experience.

We continuously benchmark our benefit plan offerings against other health systems of the same size in an effort to offer a competitive benefits package. Currently, we offer three different medical plans to our part-time and full-time employees. The deductible, copayment and coinsurance amounts vary by plan. We offer these choices because we believe that one medical plan does not fit everyone’s needs and that employees should be able to pick what works best for them. Another way we work to keep the benefit costs down is by having a tiered benefit structure, where our leadership and physicians pay a higher percentage of the premium costs to offset the premiums paid by employees. As an organization we encourage employees’ growth through training and additional education. In order to provide tuition reimbursement to as many of our full-time and part-time employees as possible, we had to set this annual maximum. In addition to tuition reimbursement, AAMC has many scholarship programs which eligible employees are able to apply to. If you have concerns about the collaboration between departments, we encourage you to speak to your supervisor.
