I worked at MCI Australia for around a year and the experience was overwhelmingly negative. The workplace culture was toxic, with a rigid hierarchy that stifled communication and made it difficult for team members to have any real impact. Overtime was rampant, often unpaid, and the expectation to stay late became the norm. It wasn’t uncommon to put in an extra three hours A DAY and everyday only to receive disapproving looks when leaving the office at a "reasonable" time. The project director/manager whatever she was, was horrible—unapproachable, dismissive, and part of the reason team morale was so low. On top of that, there was little to no training provided. When it was offered, it was half—assed, as the managers were stretched so thin that they didn’t have time to properly train staff. We were constantly understaffed, which added to the stress and frustration of an already overwhelming workload. To make matters worse, the pay we received for the amount of work expected was terrible. The level of responsibility, combined with the relentless overtime, was in no way reflected in the compensation. Despite the consistent effort put in by many, there was little recognition or reward for the extra work. Leadership seemed more focused on maintaining their positions than valuing or supporting their employees. If you’re looking for a company that respects your time, values employee development, or offers fair pay, this is not the place.
