Thank you for your review. MEMIC provides best in class benefits and superior retirement plans. MEMIC also understands the need for flexibility and provides resources for employees so they can be at their best, whether they work remotely or in the office. As you noted, one of the greatest aspects of MEMIC is the people and sense of purpose everyone brings to the work of keeping people safe and returning to health for injured workers. We are engaged in transforming the claims process to make worker’s comp work better and actively looking at ways to rebalance caseloads to ensure they are fair and equitable. Transparency and partnership are two of our values, so we encourage you to schedule time to discuss your concerns with your manager, HR Business Partner, or Senior Leader. There are no barriers to making sure you are heard. Thank you again for taking the time to review.

Pros

The executive team is top-notch, and you can tell they truly believe in the future of the company and the goals they set Good benefits, good work life balance, and interesting travel perks if you are a remote employee

Cons

Lack of training and unwillingness to move into better, modern technologies is disheartening. (the IT team is FANTASTIC, this is not a con on them) The first week of onboarding is incredibly thorough and gives a great overview fo the company and the industry. However, when it's time to for the individual departments to take over, there is a severe lack of process and cohesive training goals. The sink or swim approach is not a lasting method of training and it's disheartening to see potentially great employees get lost due to lack of guidance. The claims system is archaic and the multiple portals are confusing for the policyholders. An internal CRM that would allow claims and UW to speak to one another with full transparency would alleviate many communication issues surrounding policyholder accounts.

Thanks for your review. It seems you love the work environment and company leadership but are frustrated by the IT systems and training. We are, too, and we are working on both. As you know, the conversion to a new underwriting system was suspended earlier this year – it wasn’t the product we needed to seamlessly integrate with Claims. While we regroup on that challenge, we are moving forward with an effective Customer Relation Management (CRM) system that supports our internal operations as well as our marketing and communications capabilities. It’s all challenging but very exciting. As for ongoing training, you should see changes ahead that make it easier for us all to improve our performance overall. Please share your concerns and ideas with your supervisor and senior management. It will help support our company value of transparency. Thanks again.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review and complimenting our management team, retirement plan (company match up to 5% and nearly 12% additional contribution in recent years) and Personal Time Off (PTO) program (a starting minimum of 4 weeks). Feedback is always helpful. In addition, MEMIC offers education assistance, professional development opportunities and student loan repayment assistance just to name a few other benefits. Regarding salary, MEMIC recently conducted a market analysis, assessed salaries for current positions and made subsequent adjustments to ensure our pay is competitive. We encourage you to speak with your manager or HR Business Partner to learn about these initiatives and share your thoughts and experience. It also would be helpful to offer some examples so we don’t miss opportunities to improve. Thank you again for your feedback.
