great peers and middle management. corporate management is awful

Pros

Some great staff to work with. Nice people, hard working with good customer service orientation. If you focus, you can pick up some good experience in the technology. Many talented, smart people in middle management.

Cons

Micros corporate does not respect its staff. Official personnel policies more suitable to a fast-food restaurant than a team of professionals. Benefits are terrible and are sometimes downgraded without notice. Short-sighted layoffs occured last year based on an irrelevent criteria. Innovation is squashed by overcontrolling corporate policies. There just doesn't seem to be any interest in encouraging enthusiasm or new ideas.

upper mgt has no loyalty to the employee's, no flexibility, poor mgt, high stress environment, absolutely no training

Pros

No direction is offered at MICROS so if you like working with minimal direction, MICROS is for you.

Cons

Environment is scattered at best. Nothing is accomplished until a fire is about to erupt. R&D is only dedicated to obtaining new customers, not supporting existing. This is obviously sales driven! Existing customers are driven crazy since once the system is implemented, MICROS moves on to the next new toy! Company philosophy does not believe in rewarding in rewarding its top talent. They would rather lose top talent and hire two people for 1/2 the price. Absolutely no mentoring or career development. Salary as compared to industry is a joke.
