Piece of Advice: Don't work there

Business Outlook

Pros

Few, if any, meaningful positives to note.

Cons

It’s striking how consistent the feedback is across reviews. Many describe an environment where joy and psychological safety are largely absent, and where morale has steadily eroded over time. A recurring theme is the existence of a long-standing inner circle — individuals who have worked together for years and appear insulated from the broader experience of the organization. Outside of that group, employees often report feeling undervalued, unsupported, and subject to unequal treatment. This dynamic has created a clear divide, contributing to a culture of fear rather than collaboration. Instead of openness and trust, people describe caution, disengagement, and a lack of belonging. Taken together, the consistency of these perspectives suggests systemic issues rather than isolated experiences.

Pros

Some great coworkers, a fun industry, some neat clients, good PTO and travel perks, you can learn a lot of different areas based on the variety of client needs in your portfolio to gain a lot of experience in a short time, opportunities for growth

Cons

I don't trust upper management at all. You will work more hours than anyone else on your team and then get paid the least despite experience, tenure and workload. They will make you pitch ideas that will not benefit the client at all and that they won't like in order to upsell them and waste their money. They will basically tell you that they don't care if you leave if you don't like what they're doing. They do employee engagement surveys and then do the exact opposite of what employees suggest. They don't care when clients treat staff very poorly (half the clients are incredible to work with and half treat you so horribly). They're also getting very political. There's also a very cliquey culture between some employees (not all!). You'll feel gossiped about, excluded and everything in between. If you go to a particular person in HR about it they'll give you horrible advice that could cause more harm than good.

MMGY Global Response

Hello! Thank you for the feedback, pros and cons. Feedback is a gift, even when it Is difficult to hear. As a member of upper management, I won’t waste your time responding to all your points, as you have been very clear about your distrust. I will respond to one point that I feel I specifically own, the employee engagement survey. The intent of our annual employee engagement survey is to gather and understand employee sentiment, and to allocate resources to create and build benefits, systems, work processes, culture, etc. to address or improve in areas that are beneficial to both the company and the employee. The survey has never been intended to be a tool that indicates that the company will do or react to any/all employee feedback given. And if I have misled you or others in thinking that, then I apologize. But that is not the intent. I wish you all the best in finding a company that better meets your expectations. Mia Wise CHRO

Pros

- Good PTO - Swanky offices, but not really a pro - Cool clients

Cons

- Terrible pay. Making in the $50ks as an SAE. $50k is now a starting salary for ACs (straight out of college) at many agencies. - Some managers that get promoted when they should be fired, even after employees voice their concerns to HR and higher-ups. - The fact that they're putting money into new offices when everyone's complaining about the pay. - And moving into a new office and posting it on social media amidst a global pandemic? Tone deaf. Maybe some people wouldn't have been laid off if we weren't running such irresponsible margins on empty offices. - Unreasonable expectations, especially when traveling on business trips. - Poor processes. Other agencies have project managers separate from account managers. Why are account managers making production schedules when they can't see the creative teams' available hours? Just so the traffic team can tell us to do it over a different way? Twice the amount of work for no good reason.
