Pros

Good discounts at times, when their deceptive coupons worked, and I did meet a few nice employees who were helpful.

Cons

Rude employees, most don't speak English. Low pay, $9.40 an hour. Unreachable sales goals. Must push their 25% interest credit cards or else. Some employees blatantly break the law to reach their goals. Grossly understaffed. Store was always a mess - clothes all over floor and cash stands were abominable. Will take anything back regardless of how long ago it was purchased or no matter what the condition. Damaged merchandise then put back on sales floor. . Store managers never speak civilly to employees Believe their job is to berate employees. This trickles down to department managers who are usually young and inexperienced. They believe their job is only to find fault with associates. Little to no helpful training. Many clothes damaged as associates do not know how to hang them up. If customers makes a big scene, they will receive merchandise at outlandishly low prices. Point system is ridiculous. Employees are docked points even during snow storms even if road conditions made it impossible to drive.

Pros

Work life balance is good

Cons

They use outdated technologies and management is insecure and unwilling to change or embrace modern technologies. Lot of childish politics. They have a horrible medical insurance plan where you have to pay a high premium for a very poor coverage, so please insist on the details for the medical insurance plan before you join.

Pros

if you want a dead-end job with no growth but no pressure 9 to 5 job. More privileges if you are a contractor. Other groups of macys.com (Marketing, CAPS) are well defined with strong management and support their employees 100%

Cons

- Management is toothless from top to bottom, whether it is GVP, VP, director or managers and hold no powers in comparison to other groups in Macys - GVP, VP ask full time employees to keep the contractors happy and do what the contractor asks. No wonder full-timers are leaving company the first chance they get Management is more worried about the comfort and career path of their contractors than their employees
