Pros

- People are friendly and kind. - Founders care about employees. - In an industry full of uncertainty and gig-to-gig type work, stability and benefits - Cutting edge projects with visionary leaders - Beautiful office - Although not always possible for management, many employees have great work hours. - If you are interested in something, even if it isn't your job title, Magnopus is supportive about finding ways to guide you towards working on solving those types of problems more.

Cons

- Depending on the project, long hours can be required.

Pros

People are passionate about what they do. Lots of cross team communication.

Cons

Initiative is punished. Dissenting opinions are punished. Micromanagement via timekeeping software. Line managers pass pressure from PO down to engineers. Line managers are passive aggressive and hostile toward those with career aspirations. Salary is subpar and lowballing seems to be the norm. They say "flexible working" but it's a lie. You will be expected to stay on until 5-6pm on a semi regular basis. Upper management justify low wages with equity, but the equity is pitiable.

Pros

You will find yourself collaborating with extremely talented, dedicated, and easy-to-work-with colleagues. The offices are great, if you live close-by.

Cons

There are undertones of the smaller UK office always coming second to the dominant US office in terms of funding, attention, comms, respect, and company culture. In the last 18 months of the Product team, efforts to reduce costs and maximize output have led to layoffs, frequent personnel shuffles, tangled reporting lines, and inconsistent direction. These practices continue, and negatively impact morale and result in high turnover. Management's approach to employee compensation is troubling. There are instances of hiring managers making false promises about bonuses, and a large number of employees being underpaid. It feels pointless to argue with leadership about adjusting salaries by inflation, over and over. The CFO’s remark, “If you are not happy with your salary, don't let the door hit you on the way out,” highlights a staggering disconnect between leadership and employee welfare.
