Pros

The culture and people within Mailgun are very friendly, down-to-earth, and willing to help. The PTO and benefits are decent, plus remote work or hybrid if you're close to an office. Each year completed with the company is rewarded with "experiences."

Cons

The pay is below market average and the sales organization has faced limited growth since the acquisition. There are now higher standards to achieve, which makes it nearly impossible for even top performers to advance. In terms of strategy, there is no clear direction and a reluctance to change historically failed tactics. It's also difficult to deny previous criticisms of favoritism and bias. Even when asked for feedback, some leaders patronized and overlooked your contributions if you weren't one of their favorites.

Great culture, room for comp improvement

Pros

The culture is definitely one of the biggest pros. People are friendly and provide good and helpful feedback. It sounds cliche, but people here want to see each other succeed, and it's a great feeling to be surrounded by people who invest in each other and take time to build teams and one-on-one relationships. If you meet someone here who's been around for a while, that's likely one of the biggest reasons why. There's some good room for growth/new positions depending on your role. Also, the company has embraced WFH, which is a great perk. It feels like employees are trusted to handle their work, and that you are encouraged to lead a healthy work/life balance. Overall, you can definitely expect positive relationships from others and a good work environment.

Cons

Benefits are fine, but pretty standard for the tech industry. Advertising "100% medical" or the existence of 401ks doesn't really make a company stand out. Base salaries are probably the bigger sticking point, as they aren't very competitive and haven't kept pace with cost of living, and it can be difficult/impossible to get past the predetermined "limit" for your position regardless of performance. Additionally, there's been some shake-ups at the parent company, and increased belt-tightening and push for immediate, bottom-line impact from old processes and products can create an environment that feels a little stuck.

Pros

Working for an organization that acknowledges and appreciates your hard work makes all the difference in the world sometimes. You can love what you do and pour yourself into it, but if the organization doesn't notice your dedication you can feel taken advantage of at times, that is how I felt before moving to Mailgun. In just under a year I have had more opportunity to grow professionally than I did in the last five years at my previous organization. Senior leadership is available and responsive, feedback is relayed often, and the organization puts people first.

Cons

As with any tech company, it can sometimes feel like there are not enough hands to get everything done you need done, but unlike other organizations I have worked for leadership acknowledges that everything can't happen at once.
