Misogynistic promotion strategies and insanely high turnover

Pros

WFH is not a problem if you need the flexibility. Personal growth opportunities are pretty much non-existent. perks = kitchens with espresso machines, snacks, salads and sandwiches. In office happy hour once a month. Excellent views from SF office, great location, close to Bart. Commuter reimbursement up to 50%.

Cons

Very few women in management yet there are women who are clearly strong and highly skilled. They recently converted their PTO policy to unlimited/flex time then forced everyone to use their accrued vacation hours so they didn't have to pay them out. People were extremely upset for having their saved vacation time taken away. The onboarding process is terrible - i.e. all new hires are welcomed by a sticky note on their desks. The hiring manager, the hiring recruiter are non existent on someones first day at work. Recruiting/IT/HR are totally not in sync. Turnover is crazy high with key people as well as newbies. Sometimes people leave as early as 2 to 3 months.

Hello and thank you so much for sharing your experience. We are disappointed to read that you did not feel that there were enough women in leadership here. We have several female directors and VPs, and often promote from within the company. But we also recognize that every industry needs more female leadership. At Marin we have a Women in Leadership Series (also open to our male employees) where we have a speaker come in to talk about topics related to being female in the workforce. We had our board member, Daina Middleton, speak at the most recent one. Our transition from PTO to flex time is not only to keep up with industry trends, but to encourage a work culture of balance where employees are able to take time off when they need it and not have to wait until time is accrued. All employees who had accrued PTO prior to the implementation of flex time has been frozen and will be paid out at the time of their departure. We are constantly working to improve our onboarding process. Recruiting, HR, and IT work hard to stay in communication with one another and we assure you that your experience is by no means the standard. We wish that you had reached out to your recruiter during your onboarding to let us know what was missed for you to address it immediately.

A lost company

Pros

- Great boss ( But he is no longer there) -Great co-workers (Most don't work there anymore tho) - Great clients (Most have left to go to Google)

Cons

They need to hire better people working on the platform. They are so far behind I can't see them catching up. They had great Directors and employees but due to the fact Google keeps taking all their clients. Everyone that made the job great isn't there anymore and the people they decided to keep are what made the company awful.

Pros

- Well established software company - Exciting industry, large clients remain - Cross-channel vision could still work... see cons - Decent salary and okay perks - Unlimited PTO - Smart folks remain

Cons

- Recruiting is the hidden but fatal flaw - No new talent acquisition strategy - Software company that forgot what good software is - Engineering and product criminally idle - Engineering and product are a wasteland - Abysmal expectations leading to people coasting - No sense of urgency - Given the above, 0 chance to deliver on vision
