We appreciate your candid feedback. If you're comfortable reaching out, we'd love to hear more about the "lying and deceit" to which you refer; this is not the culture we want so I encourage you to provide more detail so that we can address your concern. Regarding the numbers-orientation, as you know we're a start-up of 200 people and still working through all our processes. We HAVE been very focused on numbers since this is one of the best ways to make the best decisions for the business.

Pros

I appreciate the ability at Matterport to go outside my job description to contribute value to the team without running into red tape. I've been able to leverage this to try new things and grow professionally much more than I would be able to elsewhere. This is a dynamic team that truly values winning together. The product is also incredible too. Matterport is changing the way people experience spaces and if you can appreciate tech, you'll love chatting with clients on the phone about the product. Training is pretty good and senior members of the team are helpful and patient as you learn to speak credibly about a complex solution that transcends across many verticals. Salary is pretty good and the benefits are beyond anything typical in Chicago.

Cons

Definitely wish we were a little more connected to the California office. There's a lot of great people and developments in the company taking place out there that most people in the Chicago office have never seen. It can create a slight disconnect in our office of where we are fitting into the bigger picture of our company roadmap.

Thanks for the review. We continue to work on communication between Chicago and HQ and encourage you to keep the feedback coming!! And we're very excited to have rolled out IDP's to all employees; we'll encourage management to continue following up.

Pros

Unlimited PTO Free snacks and drinks Good if you need a job to get sales experience Truly innovative technology

Cons

Not enough time to name them all...... Unattainable sales quotas and guys' OTE are dropping lower and lower each month. The sales managers really do not know what they are doing and the culture is one of negativity and fear. Most of the top guys got smart and left, and it shows. The sales numbers are very bad and nobody is doing well compared to the way things used to be. It started as a good place to develop but despite what they may tell you in the interview, nobody gets promoted, so there is no opportunity for growth, and the earnings are less than what they tell you so be warned. It has now become a place of high call volume and no real sales skills. It was a great place but the managers have run this place into the ground and it is depressing to be there. Seriously, you can feel it when you are there and that kind of negativity is contagious. Laughable sales incentives and for whatever reason, the C-Level executives in the Sunnyvale office do not seem to care enough to get involved. Some of them visit from time to time and the condescending attitudes are very obvious. It leads to a lot of tension and anxiety when they visit. All the positivity you might read about comes from California, not Chicago. Keep that in mind. If you need a job in sales for experience, this might be an ok spot, but don't expect to make much. There are fewer leads than ever and this is definitely a marketing first organization. The people in the corporate offices in California have all the fun. Chicago is an afterthought and I don't see that changing anytime soon. I could go on, but I think you get the point and have an idea of what life is like here. Sorry to be so blunt but I wanted to give potential applicants the fair warning I wish I had but never got.
