Pros

Flexibility as registry nurse. Paycheck

Cons

Management/ Recruiters do not have a good working realationship with Nursing Staff. Shifts cancelled and not communicated with nurse. Staff will double book the nurse at two different hospitals and take the highest "bidder" then call the low bidder and tell that facility that the nurse cancelled. Then the staff would call the nurse and say the hospital cancelled but they have another shift for them. A friend of mine got DNR'd (do not return) at one facility because they thought she was a flake. Staff at that hospital called her up and asked why she had been cancelling so much. Thus the investigation began exposing Maxim's unethical practices that destroy the nurse's hard earned reputation. Pay is lower than average. Do not treat the nurses with respect but are condescending and insulting. Will schedule you to work when it is your day off then try to harrass you into taking the shift. The list goes on and on. Transferred offices, same treatment.

Pros

none. the families you work with

Cons

will cut pay by over 50% without giving notice or reason. will stiff you on paychecks and gaslight you about accuracy. only pay $20 an hour for training for a new patient even though its required. will not pay more for nights or weekends. will forget to use or accrue your pto. pto policy is only 1 hour for every 40 hours worked so you basically never have pto. will force you to work 1-2 hours away from home and lie to you about cases nearby. don’t pay for driving to cases. extremely racist and greedy company. the office staff is mostly white while the nurses are 99% BIPOC and everything from the office is a microaggression. the recruiters will lie to family to throw you under the bus when they make a mistake like forget to schedule a nurse - they’ll tell the family you just didn’t show up when you were in fact off. also maxim has a history of insurance fraud and will steal money from nurses and families for “services” for their own profit they have a history of fraudulent practice and have left families with medically fragile kids without care due to their practices. never work for this company they don’t care about the nurses, patients, or families they will also pressure you to work 16 hour shifts after working all night even if your commute is far away and unsafe for instance and they will pressure you to work 70+ hours away week. they don’t care if it’s your only day off. they will be extremely rude to you for saying no and will never offer differential or incentive and would rather tell the families they can’t find a nurse than spend money staffing them properly
