- Very project dependent for overall enjoyability - Because you do not have much say on what project you get assigned to, your responsibilities and who you work with can vary greatly project to project. For example getting transferred to a project where there is no comradery with the project management team or general contractor can really be demoralizing. This can be further exacerbated if your role within the project is poorly defined and you get stuck doing document management or paperwork - Hard to build work relationships with people outside of your project when you are out on your jobsite office every day. Making an effort to network in the main office can be beneficial - There were many weeks where I saw the project managers working 50+ hour weeks . It is entirely possible you make more your last year as an hourly project engineer through overtime, than your first year salaried as a project manager
