Pros

The people there were very nice. There were many talented and intelligent people there. The work environment is very positive.

Cons

The internship was poorly organized. Very little attention was given to making it a fulfilling learning experience. There were a couple of bad apples that I felt were incompetent and should not be working professionally.

Pros

It is a job in a small town and they do pay a decent wage for the size of the city. The health package is second to none with a copay of $20 per doctor visit and $5/15 for prescriptions. The company pays 100% of the premiums. Medical is through Scott and White and prescriptions are through Walmart. The company hosted events were fun and usually there were at least 3 per year, Thanksgiving, Christmas, United Way fund raiser. The new building is very nice and really quite. Excellent equipment is given to employees, all laptops, plus dual screen monitors.

Cons

Lack of vacation time, as you start out with no vacation time the first year, and only get ten days after 1 year. You get a whopping 15 days after a short and easy 5 years of service. I would say the company is really behind other innovative software companies in this aspect. Extremely male oriented, hostile company as far as co-worker attitudes can go. Feels like a male fraternity sometimes, but there are no fun parties. Pay is fairly low for this industry but if you factor in the location I guess it is fair. No flexible hours, they like to see you 8-5 at your desk. Raises and upward mobility are extremely limited as well. They did give out 2-6% raises but on average it was inflation. It is really not a fun place to work.

Pros

High paying overseas assignments available in Kuwait and Afghanistan. If you were in the Army with anyone in the company they will probably find a job for you in spite of you not having any qualifications other than formerly being in service.

Cons

This company has made progress in recent years toward getting rid of the fluff management. Also they have made progress with their flagship product SAMS-E. However... it is slated to be replaced in short months. Heard of GCSS-A ? It is replacing SAMS-E. Mclane will need to further diversify to survive.
