Pros

Meditech is a good place to get entry-level experience (sort of, see caveat in next section). The majority of hires are fresh out of college with no experience whatsoever. If you're on the younger side you'll appreciate the large number of similarly-aged peers.

Cons

Pay is grossly below industry averages for your first several years of employment. For developers you're getting experience, but development is done with proprietary languages so you aren't really gaining much value on the open market. The languages used are vastly behind the times--they are significantly less powerful than nearly any modern language. Also, many standard software development practices are practiced poorly, or ignored entirely (source control, automated unit testing). Additionally, all employees are given fifteen inch monitors. Yes, developers too. Programmers beware: if you're into computer science and modern software development you WON'T be happy here.

Pros

Very easy to get a job with them out of college. Five cent soda vending machines. Cafe lunch is cheap usually between $2-5. Easy going and relaxed atmosphere. Most people are very friendly. Good health care benefits.

Cons

There are three main divisions at MEDITECH: development, implementation, and client services with each division broken up into separate groups by the application they support. As a programmer try to get into development with one of the clinical applications if you want any respect. Be warned: Turnover is very high. The pay is low by industry standards. The MAGIC technology is antiquated. Even the latest Client/Server 5.6 tech is the same limited Visual Basic 4.0-like language just with a new blue GUI. So make sure you keep your tools sharpened: object-orientated programming, SQL databases, IDE's aren't used here. After a few years you'll be stuck working here if you don't... Everything from pay raises, cafeteria menus, and product design decisions are approved at a Vice President level. Why?

Pros

job security, laid back atmosphere in some buildings, free golf passes at start of golf season

Cons

starting salary is low which is understandable for an entry level position, but raises must be given on a $1200 scale and must stay within managements budget for raises for a particular quarter. if you happen to be up for a raise at a time when a lot of other people are or when the company might not be having a great quarter then you will not get a sufficient raise regardless of job performance. there's no 401k, although there is a profit sharing plan so as long as the company is doing well then it is ok, but if the company takes a financial slide then we are in trouble. there's not much equality between some of the groups when it comes to general rules like taking time off, dress code, etc.
