Pros

5 cent soda, good food that you are not allowed time to eat. The caf is good but they encourage you to eat at your desk.

Cons

The worst company I ever worked for, I quit during training period. The turnover is unbelievable, the owner made his own method to calculate employee turnover that does not count people that quit before working a full year. Pay is a joke, I was the highest paid recruit in my class by far and still quit. They track your every move as you must sign in every time you change areas. The product is in the stone ages. There is little upward movement and managers make half of their pay recruiting new people. The owner will not let you use real office software, as he insists that this is a "software company" and makes you use in house developed word processing and other programs that are straight out of the 1980's and cause many hours of extra work. They will not let you use any sick days, they say that is your "long term disability". I heard that they offer as low as 24K a year to start, they make you travel 2 weeks of the year for that slave wage. The owner forces employees to buy private company stock, he lost most of that money investing in real estate.

Pros

It's a good place to start out, and there are quite a few employees in their 20s. It's a great way to network. Every group I have been in has enjoyed socializing outside of work. They also offer great job security. I don't believe they have ever laid anyone off in 40 years. The benefits are cool too--like their year end bonus system, the company picnic and the health coverage is excellent. The cafeterias have pretty good food at good prices, and the open environment allows for communication with those around you while you are working.

Cons

Little to no documentation makes it very difficult to learn. And you are expected to learn. You can only take so much time out of someone else's day asking them questions. While the year end bonus is highly regarded as a huge benefit, don't be fooled, it falls short of making up for the salary pay cut you take to work here instead of someplace comparable. Also, it takes 5 years to get that bonus up to the point of making up for the lost salary. Some people really know their stuff, but unfortunately, there are a number of people at the company who know very little, even with years of experience under their belts.

Pros

Meditech is a great company. From the compensation to the benefits, this company does much to please it's employees. If you work hard it's rewarded year over year. This is the first company that i've worked for that i felt i really had a career at. The reason for that is because they only hire from within. Everyone who starts at MEDITECH starts at entry level. If they're looking for a senior programmer they hire one from the pool of programmers already working at MEDITECH. There's a yearly bonus every year, yes even in this economy. I would not trade this job for the world.

Cons

Currently my commute to work sucks. However, after 3 years at MEDITECH you're free to transfer to any group that needs help, and you're also able to work from other buildings temporarily or permenantly without leaving your group.
