Pros

This company gave me a chance to get into clinical research when others would not. Thanks to Medpace, I have found a field I enjoy. The free lunch and soda/coffee/tea is nice. Food trucks come to the area a couple times a week. The office environment is quiet and the cubicles are large and not shared.

Cons

Where do I begin? There is so much pressure, stress, and anxiety here to perform. Many here work 40+ hours with CRAs working 60+ a week. Management understands this is a problem but has no idea how to alleviate it. New employees are being hired but sponsors do not want to work with new CRAs and the experienced ones get more work. The morale is incredibly low. I could go on, but I just feel depressed walking in the doors of this building. I cannot wait to work for a company with a better attitude.

Pros

My department does a good job of training new hires. The training course was very thorough. Promotions in my department happen frequently.

Cons

Even though I felt excited initially about contributing to clinical research, the negative culture here just outweighs any positive feelings of personal satisfaction. I wish I had paid more attention to reviews on here and advice from friends who used to work here who warned me the micromanaging was awful. -Even though they won’t admit it, the executives are clearly trying to phase out WFH with the recent reduction in WFH days. They blamed it on WFH being a “temporary” solution from COVID, and that now’s the time to encourage a more “office-centric culture”, but I was hired after COVID began. In my interview, I was specifically told WFH would be one of my benefits. It doesn’t matter to me that WFH was intended to be temporary, because I was hired with an expected benefit of plentiful WFH days. Every single coworker I’ve talked to is angry about this change, but we all know upper management doesn’t care at all and won’t change their minds. If you can successfully do your job at home, why does it matter where you work? And wouldn’t encouraging more WFH address the parking shortage they’re so worried about? As long as you’re getting your job done, who cares if it’s at home? And I know they’ll say it’s because they want more people to be here to train new employees, but even during my onboarding training, my manager was often WFH. We did the trainings over Teams and it did not negatively impact my training at all. It’s just so frustrating that WFH is a benefit that so many people look forward to and cherish, and now they’re pulling it back. It’s clear that some time within the next year, they’re going to force us all to be back in office full-time. -Myself and my friends/family have never worked at a company that requires you to do flex time when you need to leave early for a doctor’s appointment, dentist appointment, etc. This was something I was kind of shocked by during my interview, and it really has become such a pain. Again, as long as I’m getting my work done, why does it matter? I constantly feel like someone is breathing down my neck logging my hours. As someone with a PhD, this feels like something that’s more appropriate for an intern/entry level position. Having to work 2+ hours longer one day so I can leave early the next feels degrading and like I’m being worked like a dog. -It’s clear that the upper management/executives are extremely out of touch with the day-to-day culture of the company at large. If they were in touch with us, they never would have made this revision to the WFH policy, because every single person I’ve talked to about it is angry and thinking of quitting. We’ve already lost 2 people in our department after the announcement came out. Feels like they’re just using this as an excuse to get people to quit without having to fire them.

Medpace Response

We are proud to provide robust training and growth opportunities to individuals beginning their career with Medpace. Although, we have made recent changes to our remote work policy in support of our culture of in-office collaboration, we still are providing flexible scheduling, PTO packages that provide employees flexibility in their work schedule to meet their personal needs. Thank you for the review.

Pros

Talented, smart workforce - easy to make new friends Nice equipment New building

Cons

This company fails to value its employees, in particular the CRA group. It only values the bottom dollar line and it is vividly expressed through the compensation provided, the treatment of its employees, and the policy changes. For instance, the compensation is well below the industry standard, but they will tell you during recruitment that if you're patient you will reap the benefits of a higher salary in due time after training (this is untrue). For instance, the culture of the company is to instill fear and paranoia by micromanaging all staff and threatening jobs over minor mistakes (e.g. you submitted an incorrect expense report or were seen on your phone). For instance, policy changes are continually being made to benefit the company and not the employee (e.g. required to take budget airline flights, increased the number of visits per year to make bonus, restructured promotions, scrutinized every detail of an expense report). In reflection of these policies and others, the turnover rate continues to remain high and management does nothing to make processes transparent. It has lost a lot of good talent and experience in recent years, including upper management. Overall, this employer does not have your best intentions in mind. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
