Pros

Free lunch and gym, training program, pretty facility

Cons

Low-balled pay scale. The training program is a joke. I have seen so many CRAs fired for the most ridiculous reasons. One lady had an emergency where her son was in a coma and was't sure if he was going to live. They FIRED her the day after she came back and said "you aren't a good fit"? She was a great CRA! Also, middle-school mentality. If you are not in the right clique-good luck. The interns watch and report everything, and report it! It's awful...just awful. :(

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize that you feel there is negativity in the organization. Medpace provides initial and ongoing training for our CRAs through our PACE (Professionals Achieving CRA Excellence) program. This is highly valued in our organization due to the collaboration it provides between our CRAs and management. This program is rigorous and provides training needed for any CRAs that actively work at our sites. Not only do we feel it’s extremely successful, but we have been recognized with multiple awards that show the quality of our work. We acknowledge, however, that not all candidates successfully complete the program. We are also proud of the collaborative and flexible culture that we promote. We are very aware that Medpace is going through a period of high growth within the organization. Our leadership has made a great effort to acknowledge the efforts of valued employees during a busy season. However, by allowing our employees to utilize “flex time”, we still give them the ability to have a flexible schedule that encourages a well-balanced work/home life. We take offense to the accusation that we would promote anything other than this type of culture. We work hard to ensure we are place that attracts employees not just for the short term, but are a place that our associates can grow in their career. It is apparent that Medpace was not the right place for you, but we appreciate your review.

Clinical Research Associate

Pros

The training program for a Clinical Research Associate is excellent for individuals who may have no clinical research experience. Office atmosphere in Cincinnati and Dallas are both excellent. Co-workers were friendly and helpful. A good opportunity for an inexperienced or young individual within the industry.

Cons

- Travel is not regional, nor will you necessarily be resourced to sites close to your home location. - Employees seem to be resourced to an above average amount (as compared to the industry standard) of Protocols and Sites. - Pay and Benefits are below average for the industry.

Thank you for your feedback! We are very happy to hear you enjoyed the training and collaborative culture we promote here at Medpace. We take pride in our comprehensive CRA training program and are glad you have been able to experience the benefits. We understand we’re going through a busy period due to high growth and appreciate the feedback you have given regards to work/life balance. While 60%-80% travel is required for all CRAs within the organization, and we try to make this travel as comfortable as possible with access to airport lounge and other travel membership benefits as well as an in-house travel department to help with bookings, we do understand this amount of travel is not the best fit for everyone. We are very proud of the growth we’ve experienced over the last few years, and only strive for that to continue. We appreciate the insight you have provided.

Pros

The only pro here is that they are one of the few CRO’s that will hire you directly as a CRA with limited or no experience. The training program is comprehensive and you will learn all you need to become a strong CRA. At other CRO’s with no experience you either have to wait for a cohort training program (becoming more rare among reputable CRO’s because of sponsor experience requirements) or start as a CTA and “get lucky” to become a CRA. Another alternative is to become a study coordinator for a year or two and then get a CRA position at a better company. Bonus structure is nice given it’s related to amount of travel, but this doesn’t compensate for their salary that is way way way below industry standard for CRA’s.

Cons

Oh boy, where do I start?!?? They have you sign a non-compete that is career suicide if you were to honor it - luckily, many of the larger CROs know that Medpace does this and basically laugh at them - its broad and therefore not legally binding. Some CRO’s however will not fire you until after a year from your departure at Medpace (PPD is an example). Zero career growth and a terrible “good ole boys” dynamic. Terrible morale among employees - if anything goes wrong they fire people - my two favorite project managers were fired because of mistakes on their studies. That’s unheard of in the industry.
