Pros

The only pro was the free product check every month. Every other "perk" was designed to make you feel obligated to devote your every waking hour to the company in exchange.

Cons

Where do I start? The company feels like its employees owe it their lives because they are so gracious enough to provide employment. Upper management does not value the opinion of middle management or lower employees, even though said employees have specific expertise in certain areas. Career paths exist only if you are buddy-buddy with the right people. The company says it wants innovative ideas, when in reality, they are stuck in the "this is the way it's always been done" mentality. It is a brain-wash culture, just as the independent sales executive side is. You only succeed there if you believe Melaleuca is god's gift to the business world. Raises are based SOLELY on upper management's evaluation, but if you have no interaction with upper management, you have no chance of getting a raise. They live in an industrial-age mindset where they actually track what time you walk into the building and what time you leave, and weigh your performance review more on that than on what you actually accomplish in your job. Just overall backwards thinking.

Pros

1. I'm getting some great experience and exposure to things I did not know. 2. I've met some cool people - transplants from other states. 3. The onsite cafeteria is nice - although it is strange that it is the wellness company and they serve fried Chinese food multiple times a week. 4. I took my family to the picnic and that was fun. 5. Christmas party was awesome.

Cons

1. Everything is a last minute crisis; no visible strategy on anything. China seems to be booming (until it isn't...) 2. No trust and they do many things to track your time if you are salaried. They track door logs, have sign in sheets at all meetings, and make you do this weird thing called plan you day (on the computer) every morning which shows if you are in the building. 3. They value time in the building way more than accomplishing anything! 4. Pay is WAY below market. PTO is not enough. 5. Virtually all of management is white, Mormon men. 6. There is no career development, no training - I saw HR when I started my job, at the picnic, but not since then. 7. There is a Chief of Staff...who has a Chief of Staff other than the President????

Pros

Concierge service is a very convenient and free benefit Fitness Center is quite good Free product each month saves on regular purchases Twice a year giveaways of free trips, toys, grills, other nice gifts

Cons

Frequent intervals of uncompensated overtime Dress is business attire, ties required at times, jeans, sneakers are forbidden, no casual days Management scans your emails, IM usage and web sites visited. Anything they deem inappropriate or not for business purposes can get you in trouble. Management mandates IT staff track their time to projects to the minute. They even record the times you swipe in and out of the building to keep you honest. Misreporting hours, even overtime, can get you written up. Rules are often applied unequally, HR is unsympathetic High turnover of IT staff - stress is a common complaint Promotions often reserved for friends and family
