Pros

Good people in the trenches. Very loyal long term employees.

Cons

The company continues to bank on its old reputation even though it is no longer able to deliver its superior product. It over promises and under delivers to its agency force. Employees become confused by the mix messages from management.

Pros

Mercury will train you without having prior insurance experience. Good benefits. Christmas bonus equal to one-half month's salary. Great co-workers.

Cons

Have an exit plan. This place will literally suck the life out of you. Prepare to be worked to your breaking point, and then some. If you were a slacker in school, this job may work for you. Doing mediocre work will help you do your job faster and handle the workload. If you aim for producing quality work, you won't keep up. Do not expect any support when you get to the breaking point because there will be none. If you can't handle the overload, the perception is that you're the problem.

Pros

When I first started working for Mercury, they had great pay, bonuses, great raises. Then they decided to pay millions of dollars to get Prop 33 passed in California. At the same time, they laid of hundred of employees and expected everyone to pick up the slack. They then reduced the benefits and raises.

Cons

Irrational expectations; hostile work environment; no room for advancement; very stressful job with a lot of responsibility; HR is biased and on management's side.
