Pros

the pros are getting smaller and smaller each year. Christmas bonus

Cons

The company has been on a downhill trajectory for the last ten years. H.C. Department wields way too much power and they're huddles, classes, meetings, ect. are ridiculous. If you are in corporate or a stock holder you are doing great. If your just a layman, good luck!

Pros

Xmas bonus & shrinking underwriting bonus/benefits are very comprehensive

Cons

Claims dept is out of control. Employees are leaving or filing work comp claims for stress. The GuideWire system now has created 3 operating systems for the claims dept to rely on to do their job--ridiculous. The workload and assignment system is completely out of wack. Supervisors are asked to review claims, conduct quarterly employee reviews, audit claims files and handle inter-company arbitration filings, along with all other personnel issues, all in about a 60-70 work week on salary. The expectations of upper management are out of touch with reality. It seems as people leave, the company is allowing attrition with growing strength--i suspect the outlaying claims offices will be closing in to the not too distant future and claims will be centraized through the largest office locations since the geographic location of employees no longer affects location of losses/claims. To any job applicant--look elsewhere to apply for a position other than Mercury.

Pros

Christmas bonus, and small annual u/w bonus, ok benefits, health, dental, vision, life ins and 401k, casual dress, friendly coworkers,

Cons

Where do I start? too much work to do in 1 day, everyone is eternally behind on everything. No room for advancement, management does not have a clue about anything. Since we got new system a year ago and we are now getting at least double the amount of claims we used to get with minimal overtime. On top of that, we are now being audited every single month as if there isn't enough stress in our lives. The reviews and audits are so degrading.lowers everyone's self esteemed. You are made to feel incompetent. Morale has been at an all time low and nobody acknowledges it. Good hardworking employees keep leaving or going on stress leave and the rest of us are left to work the files left behind. So many new procedures that are time consuming on an already slow system, suck up your day. At least 50% of employed are still there because they haven't found another job yet, as soon as they do they will be out of there.
