Pros

Fantastic co workers--second to none!!!!! No question about knowing who has your back in a crisis

Cons

Unsafe environment, employees are frequently injured by patients. Management is unaware of the danger of the physical environment to staff and patients. Staff is not supported by management. No room for advancement

Pros

Excellent co-workers in every department throughout the hospital. Physicians (especially pulmonologists) have respect for and work well with Respiratory for the best patient care. Great Therapist Driven Protocol. Decent location. Pay is fair for the area.

Cons

Management is friendly enough, but more concerned with budgets and Patient reviews than actual patient care- very frustrating and dangerous when staffing is cut short to save money despite the need. Expectations outside scope of practice. Poor communication when changes or new policies are initiated, like playing telephone. Recently, there has been a large number of 'fresh out of school staff' throughout hospital, including ICU, leading to reduced quality in patient care (overworking new grads who are still learning with minimal tenured staff at times). Insurance is not a good value for FT/PT employees, unless you use Mercy doctors and facilities. Expect to see under-qualified individuals advance before those who are qualified, because of relationships outside of workplace.

Pros

benefits are decent, although the health. plan forces you to get all your services from the hospital - cannot use other facilities without a huge penalty

Cons

some of the management staff are woefully ignorant on how to properly treat employees -- there's a sense of do whatever you need to do to get someone to toe the line
