Pros

Great place to start your social work career and get your foot in the door.

Cons

Constant revolving door of employees so there is lots of room for advancement due to this. Can easily and quickly work your way up from being a case manager, to a team lead, to a program director, to a CM II due to high staff turnover. Was told I wouldn’t have more than 75 clients, I was sitting at over 100 due to coverage work when I left. Management are not considerate of your work life balance and encourage working over time and constantly throw you more work. Hard to catch up because of this. Time management is almost impossible because of the high case loads. Be prepared to constantly be stressed!!! Good luck.

Pros

Higher wage for harder positions Adheres and complies to state laws for care of disabled individuals. Compassionate workers across the board.

Cons

Absolutely worked to death. I worked in q crisis home and we desperately needed more people on each shift, to the downfall of our personal safety. Multiple staff members, including myself, making ER trips from injuries caused by assaults from clients. Due to the desperation for staff, management was pretty ruthless with any time off for any reason, including work-related injuries/illnesses. Not enough pay for the level of work and danger of work. Worst health insurance ever.

Our organization did recently increase wages at over 50% of our programs and will continue to revisit increases based on funding/qualifications of staff and needs of program along with cost of living adjustments. Pros

Was able to move up in the company quickly and gained a lot of experience. Positions are extremely flexible and could make your own schedule and had very competitive pay.

Cons

Meridian does not value the people that they have. Instead of trying to focus on retention and keeping people that they had, they grew too fast, causing a LOT of turnover. Case coverage was nonstop and people were overworked without getting much appreciation while doing so.
