Pros

Met some great people here. Nice office / working conditions. Hardly any after hours work, your time is yours. I put a high value on this.

Cons

Two weeks PTO. No matching 401k. No Work from home capability. Lower-end salaries, one small raise with 3 years of work. No attempt at employee retention, let a lot of great talent leave. Absolutely no communication or guidance from anyone higher than your immediate supervisor. This is something I just could absolutely not understand and had me very puzzled. This always made the company feel so divided. Inter-department communication was often much more difficult than it needed to be, at expense to both the customer and employee's time. There was no growth, learning opportunities, or any clear line of progression. It was promised, but seemed limited to only a select few people. The follow-through was not there. The work always seems to be about finding the quickest solution instead of implementing a more extensive and future-proof system. For example its much more of a "throw more bodies at it" company. And anyone that tried to make REAL pushes against the normal were actually met with more promises or even a negative response. This was the point I realized this company would not change anytime soon, which is very unfortunate, I was so sad to come to this realization because most of the people here are so great. The focus was on quantity, not quality. Make sure you meet your metrics!! I acknowledge it is a growing company so it is possible things will or have changed.

Thank you for taking time to share your perceptions of MeridianLink. We’re glad you found the people and the working conditions agreeable, and you valued the work/life balance that exists here. The benefits we offer include two weeks of vacation, plus another week if needed for illness, plus 10 holidays of which two are floating, for a total of five weeks of paid time off. After 5 years of service, employees are given an additional week of vacation. Our salaries are competitive, and performance reviews (and merit pay increases if earned) are annual. Our total compensation package is actually under revision, and we expect to have 401K matching in the near future. MeridianLink has taken great steps in 2015 to further company-wide communications, formalize career growth opportunities for all teams, provide learning opportunities, and foster team spirit. Some examples are: creation of the MeridianLink Toastmasters, creation of the ML Book Club, Halloween pumpkin carving contest and costume contest, executive level emails to all employees, a monthly company newsletter, employee development classes, standardization of job descriptions and career matrices, a website revamping project (underway), and lots of other initiatives. Also, we’ve had 10 employees promoted into management roles so far in 2015, and see continuing opportunities for career growth. We have an open door policy to all levels of management, and employees are welcome to talk to anyone in management in addition to their immediate supervisor. We get great ideas from our talented employees, and want to hear their suggestions! We agree with you about investing in our employees and communicating with them. Hopefully, you can see how the examples mentioned above show that we do just that. Thanks again for your comments. We appreciate any feedback that can help us improve even more.

Robotic Workplace

Pros

- monthly free lunch - nice office - friendly co-workers

Cons

- The work is boring. Their products have reached their peak, are stale and stagnant. Feels like working on a old dinosaur product on ancient technology and to just keep the product "running". Adapting to newer technology stacks is slow here - flat organizational structure. Majority of the Executives and upper management are family members (brothers) or very good friends. Good luck trying to move up - They tend to hire friends/family members that have no experience or is lost in life (basically hunger for any job, cheap and passive) and mold them into the perfect worker bee. So they feel grateful for the wonderful opportunity they've been given. Sometimes it feels a bit robotic in the office. - Some managers micro-manage and don't trust their employees. Proposals are torn apart and re-crafted to actually what the managers wanted without any regards to your feedback or input . This doesn't allow for a collaborative environment which leads to lack of creativity and innovations in their products. You are "do as you're told" mentality here. - HR is a joke, your complaints go into black hole or swept under the rug - Silent executions - Salary is at the low end at the market

Thank you for posting the review. I am sorry that you’re not having the best experience at ML. As one of the two founding partners, I wanted to take the time to respond to your concerns personally and also encourage you to have a discussion with me so that we can improve your experience at MeridianLink. First, I want to address your concerns regarding our products and technology. Reflecting on the past ten years, we are consistently deploying new technology, and methodologies (e.g., up to date .Net framework, SQL 2014, distributed computing for scalability), and constantly refactoring our code. Given that our applications are mature and complicated, deploying new technology will require more time. We are very careful to ensure that a change for one client does not pose any potential risks to other clients. Our clients appreciate that we put ourselves through a diligent process to keep their data secure and prevent outages and disruption to their business. Secondly, I’d like to address our recruiting process and the perception that many in management are either family members or friends. Every employee who joins MeridianLink, goes through objective third party assessments. All of our managers are given either or both the Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test (CCAT) and/or Mini-cognitive Rapid Assessment Battery (MRAB) as part of the evaluation process. We pride ourselves on promoting from within, and in 2015 alone, we have promoted ten people into management roles based on their experience, merit and previous accomplishments. Of the ten promoted in 2015, none of them are related to either of the founding partners. However, we feel that once you have joined MeridianLink, you become a member of our MeridianLink family. Next, I’d like to address your concern regarding micro management and lack of consideration for new ideas. Micro management in general goes against the culture here, but there are definitely times when employees need more guidance and direction from their supervisor, especially when new in a role, taking on a new task, being mentored for career growth, or if expectations are not being met. As far as new ideas, we strongly feel that more minds and collaboration will strengthen our products and services. We want for you to have the opportunity to address any ideas and/or concerns and for our management team to brainstorm and problem solve with you. At the end of the day though, each employee has direct access to any of our executive team members, regardless of their idea, concern, or thought and regardless of his/her role or title. Lastly, I thank you for your advice to provide transparency and visibility into our vision and mission. We are in the process of re-launching our mission, vision, values, and long term strategy. We have been and continue to be in a growth spurt. We’re trying to determine the various directions that we can take to expand in our existing space and possibly explore different verticals with new products/services. Long term strategic planning is a process that we don’t take lightly. The industry in which we operate is a highly complex one with many diverse and often times divergent, moving parts. We are taking a long term approach to do this right, and that requires balancing our existing operations with a future outlook. Once we agree with the strategic direction at the executive level, we plan to communicate this and solicit your input on how we should get there. Again, I thank you for your valuable input and if there’s anything I can do to enhance your experience at ML, my door is open for you.

This Company is a Great Place to Work & Grow

Pros

I have been with ML for over 5 years and love it. I have grown with the company and worked my way through different positions. I have learned so much and also have the opportunity to contribute to the design of the software (despite not being a programmer) and direction of the company. They listen to their employees and consider suggestions. Although they cannot accommodate every wish, they do work for overall satisfaction of the employee. The absolute best part are my co-workers in every division. The employees are the most helpful and supportive in any job or team activity I have ever experienced. It is very likely a lucky feature of this company, but I also know it has been encouraged as well. This is the reason I enjoy being at work and something ML should be very proud of. There are perks that have been enjoyed since day one such as monthly company lunches, wonderful annual picnics and holiday party with prizes and games. Now that we have a new building the perks get better and better. We have a fresh salad bar of which I enjoy almost daily. It is modest but perfect and greatly appreciated by myself who is self-conscience on making healthy choices and by others who normally don't eat salad to develop healthier habits. There are a lot of outside activities employees make on their own with the friendships that develop. A small gym is in the works and talks of a day care have been circulating. Free coffee and soda machines will keep your eyes open as well as impromptu bagels and donuts showing up for appreciation on a random day. They also pay a good percentage of health insurance I believe after 30 days. Since last year I have been able to take advantage of the Family Health Savings plan for day care and health costs for tax free money to spend on those necessities. I am very glad that was implemented.

Cons

Of course not everything is perfect since there is no such thing. However, overall it is a great place to be. Here are some cons: There is no 401K match or contribution by the company. The salaries could be a little better but for some outweighed by a lot of the perks mentioned. For some the commute can be lengthy if you cannot live close to the premises. The communication for some aspects of the job could be better but continues to improve. The air conditioning at times is too cool so wear layers. Nothing horrific here!
