      Willing to spend, just not for employees

      Pros

      Stable - will always be there.

      Cons

      I can only speak of the past. Low morale, favoritism, poor employee appraisals. and waste of a lot of rate payers money. Doubts about prevailing wages and raises. No incentive to stay now that the pension plan for new employees id so inferior that of previous employees. Retires have not got a cost of living raise in over 11 years. That means they really could care less about them. The board of directors could really care less about fairness.

      Huge Steps Forward

      Pros

      New district manager is making leaps and bounds in the right direction to make MWRD a great place to work, and has already made several changes at the suggestion of employees. (Previous management was not open to employee feedback.) It's refreshing to have Mickey do yearly company-wide listening tours in small groups and SEE those employee suggestions coming to fruition/being worked on to achieve. I absolutely love my co-workers and department managers. It's a fun environment, where we care about each other.

      Cons

      Some departments do not communicate/work well with each other, which is a result of previous management issues. This is something that is being addressed currently, and it seems that Mickey and the current management working to fix this issue.

      Culture is Moving in Right Directrion

      Pros

      New CEO is listening, and addressing concerns. Leading District in right Direction. Most people work here care about what they are doing, and care about the environment. Culture is changing to be more inclusive, caring and supportive. Flexible schedule is fabulous! This is a place folks can come to work and retire 30 years later.

      Cons

      Prior management was not open to change or improvement. Some teams don't cooperate well with others, but starting to see change. Benefits are comfortable , not leading edge. Starting to introduce new items and approach. Some longer tenured staff resistant to change.
