Pros

The third Wednesday of each month is free, and you can change it for another day. They don't pay badly, flexible hours. They don't use email much, almost everything is through slack

Cons

I don't know where to start the bad things about this company at the development level...The level of development is mediocre. They don't have any Microsoft MVPs nor do they have much experience in Azure. This leads to an even bigger problem... they are faithful defenders of managing a monolith for the entire application instead of making a system in microservices, making the application very slow in all aspects. They never let you see Azure, in fact if you want to learn Azure this is NOT your company. Any consulting firm learns much better and has better code quality. You can't use linq, you have to use a library called "funcsharp" that someone made back in the day and is the anti-pattern in every sense. Run away from that. There is an IT department that is in charge of managing everything, which is why it is impossible to extract it to microservices because to do so everyone would have to know about IT and they don't feel like having a multidisciplinary culture. In the middle of 2023 they are testing Azure Services Bus and continue to defend that it is not the optimal tool, that it is best to continue using a monolith with a number of tables, classes in a solution in visual studio that there is no way to get it... The CTO has no experience in real systems, it is his first or second job and it is believed that the monolith is the best solution, which is why it is impossible, actively or passively, to change the way of working. They say they work in Aguile but it is not true, the tasks are not estimated or refined, absolutely nothing is done, they simply give you a semi-empty tour ticket with a title... honestly it is not worth entering this company unless you are desperate. If you want to stagnate technologically for life, work on a project where there are 100 people playing at the same time, where you don't work in aguile and then no company wants to hire you, go ahead.

Thank you for your review, sounds like you have not had the greatest experience here at Mews. That does happen at times, we are experiencing high growth and learning how to manage our remote-first team members better, but we do at times get it wrong along that journey. When we promoted our current CPTO, one of the first things he made as his mission is to move away from a monolithic structure and move to micro-services. So this is definitely a work in progress and our 300+ strong R&D team are excited about the direction we have set. Wishing you the best of luck in your career. Matt/CEO

Pros

High and competitive salary. Fast grow. Fully remote (if you desire)

Cons

Toxic work place, immature behavior and communication. Lots of unnecessary drama due to high egos and lack of experience. The average of ages surrounds 25 years old, what suggests high rotation of people. If you want to succeed here, you need to sleep, breathe and eat Mews, 24/7. Not a place for growing and building a career. Its just not possible. If after reading this, you still wanna join, congratulations. You found your place. My suggestion. Hire more senior members, with experience, that know how to advice young colleges.

Hi there and thank you for sharing your review and experiences with the world. I'm truly sorry to read what kind of experience you've had at Mews. If there's one thing we do not allow at Mews, under any circumstance, it's toxic behaviour in the workplace. The fact that you experienced just that, is something we regret enormously. You mentioned there's lots of unnecessary drama due to ego's and a lack of experience, I'm sorry you feel this way too. As for our average age, I checked and it's 34 years old (november '22). With regards to having to sleep, breathe and eat Mews 24/7, if there's one thing we put a lot of effort and resources to, it's our work-life balance. You must have experienced this too, when you were employed at Mews. To mitigate the pressure that sometimes comes with working in a fast paced, rapidly scaling tech company like Mews, we offer unlimited paid holidays, Wellness Wednesday once a month, yoga classes and a whole suite of benefits and perks designed to improve the wellness and wellbeing of our employees. We feel that in fact, if there's a place to grow and build a career fast (like you mentioned yourself), Mews is that place. We like to think of our company as a meritocracy, where effort and achievement are valued and rewarded highest. Yes, we work hard but that comes with a lot of opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills. We have big ambitions but that never get in the way of giving feedback whenever you feel things can be improved. Our leadership team always has their (virtual) doors open to call or write directly, they genuinely care and all want to make this the greatest company to work at. Thank you again for your review and all the best in your future career. Matthijs / Employer Branding Manager
