Pros

There’s only one pro, your coworkers who deal with the same stress as you do…

Cons

This is unequivocally the worst donkey show of a company to work for… In the job description where it’s stated you will work closely with your Regional manager be for warned this is where the “Milan Magic” really comes into play. Be prepared to be belittled and berated like a child, even if you close the sale they will tell you how to improve your skills and what you should have said. This is not constructive criticism it’s down tight harassment to the point it becomes abusive. Also be aware your life is on candid camera. You can be watched on cameras during consultations by sometimes as many as 12 other managers that share your role. They call these “watch parties” and they will also intervene to share their criticism. The Mean Girls are real. Gaslighted scenarios are also projected on a daily basis, where you actually question yourself to the extreme of wait a minute that didn’t happen, nor is it true. The company cares more about KPI, and a percentage of no show ratios and client reviews, more than they care about if you actually hit your sales goal. Hense the reason being is that your regional only bonuses if you hit that percentage goal… The company is run with cult like behaviors and if you don’t obide by their one sided dictatorship rest assured you will be vanquished. Run by greed, forcing employees to dummy down and basically beg clients for reviews and to buy more when competitors have the same lasers and don’t rip off consumers….

Pros

None, honestly none. Yeah sure you get free laser, but only when there's room in the schedule, but oh look, your appointment was taken out because a client needed it, it's a joke trust me, it's extremely hard to get treatments done on yourself. If you're lucky your clinic will have nice co-workers and a great clinic manager (the only reason I'm still here is because I have bills to pay and haven't found something else yet, and my clinic manager is a good boss and understands what work/life balance is and does her best to accept all PTO requests and give days off, and I'm lucky that my co-workers are amazing and we all get along)

Cons

Greedy, money hungry goblin run company! The owner literally said he wants to overthrow all the "mom and pop" stores (who laughs and smiles at the thought of forcing companies to close and throw people out of work???) He also said HE wants to be a billionaire, but the company can't be bothered to pay wages worth the work! You are overworked and underpaid, and understaffed in the clinics. Client Specialists are treated like dirt, CMs throw their work on us, and we are bullied into doing it or else we are reprimanded (but yet I don't see any compensation for the extra workload outside of the scope of my job description on my paychecks) Nurses are treated like trash, and the company wonders why they can't keep any hired for long. District Managers and Regional Managers are hired based on where they live and not on experience, and it's nothing but a mean girls club that uses favoritism. They bully clinic staff and act like they are better than everyone (news flash, you're not). Work/life is a joke, clinics are so understaffed that you feel guilty for taking time off because you know it's forcing the only other client specialist to have to now cover and lose out on a day off. You work 3-4 Saturdays a month and the hours are insane! You are expected to show up 30 minutes early for no reason and then stay WAY PAST 7pm, by the time you actually get home is close to 8pm or late, so don't expect to have time with family or friends, because you have to be right back at it the next day. They said we are all guaranteed a 30 minute lunch, but that's a lie, clients are scheduled BACK TO BACK all freaking day and go into lunch, so you maybe get 10 minutes to eat, and we aren't allowed to lock the door so we can have lunch in peace, so a client will walk in during your lunch. My clinic is old, and we've been needing a remodel for a very long time, but does the company care? nope, they only care about opening up new clinics. Older ones are left to rot. Oh and they don't care about the lasers, if there's a malfunction or the cryogen warmers don't work they pretty much say we're lying and take FOREVER to get stuff done. You'd think money would be spent on at least monthly upkeep of the lasers since without them there is no clinic or Milan. THEY PAY FOR REVIEWS! Anytime a client leaves a negative review they will bombard that person with calls and offer a free tx or free area or a gift to get them to take it down or change it to a 5 star. Also take every 5 star review on here with a grain of salt because they "volunteer" employees to do them and ask brand new employees to give them. Every negative review speaks the truth about what it's actually like at Milan. When I started it was a great company, they honestly did care about clients and staff, but as we've grown that's all gone out the window and now the only thing that matters is money. Clients are pushed to upsell every month, the goals of clinics are hard to reach, but if you don't meet your goals you are bullied and yelled at by the DMs and are constantly fearing to lose your job. They also don't care about clients, we almost bully them into buying more and more even if a client made it clear they can't afford it (which makes sense since the company is CONSTANTLY increasing prices) We are ridiculously expensive and clients feel pressured to buy more before a price increase and then can't keep up with payments and we wonder why >:( and even if they do add on more areas, good luck getting on the schedule, clients sometimes have to wait MONTHS to get booked. But Milan doesn't care because they are nothing but $$$ to them. I could go on, but the main point, don't do it, don't be fooled by the application- it's all one big lie

Pros

My experience working for Milan Laser was contradictory. On one hand, the people working in the clinics were great; they were hungry for direction, encouragement and support. The interview, hiring and training process was for the most part very positive and at first impression, the field leadership team seemed open to outside perspective and points of view. Corporate partners are quick to act and provide strong support to the clinics in the field.

Cons

Despite a tumultuous 2020, the company was highly profitable and poised for growth, but only within a very limited construct. Upper management discourages deviating from a formulaic way of managing: heavy micromanaging and checking boxes to drive a result. Employees are replaceable and this company does not worry about turnover or the cost of onboarding and median tenure of the company is 1-2 years. Company culture is one-sided, presented only to outside clients and prospective employees. From the inside, it is all about sales and sales alone. Immense pressure from Regional Directors to deliver results at all costs. Employees even feel pressure to forge online reviews. There is no leadership development and sales managers are solely there to sell laser hair removal packages and should do so without question. Executive management is very green in scope and experience, with poor communication in messaging and process. Situations arise that should be handled at the clinic level but must be escalated so no one can make a decision independently. Regional Directors have clear favorites and are not open to outside ideas or opinions. Don't ask WHY because you'll be quickly labeled insubordinate and pushed out if you rock the boat. Clinic Managers are promoted to DM without multi-unit management experience (or any outside management experience for that matter). There is no work-life balance and DMs are expected to manage minuscule details that hinder the development of their teams. Compensation does not equal expected workload and bonus structure and payout at this level is unclear and inconsistent. Milan's corporate culture should embrace talent development and value employees as more than money makers. And this needs to start at the top...with the Doctors who run the company leading the charge. It is unclear how much they know is broken within the field organization. Unfortunately, the status quo is the priority, disruptors beware. I am so glad that my employment at Milan Laser is over.
