Pros

One of the biggest advantages to working at MAC was that they were actually very flexible. Within one month of working there I was able to get a few weeks off to visit my family over Christmas break. And then after working there only half a year I was able to get a month and a half off to do an internship in another state. When I tell them my availability, they respect it. I have yet to take advantage of it because I'm under my parents insurance, but it seems like they offer pretty good insurance benefits as well. You also get paid time off accumulated over time.

Cons

They did a pretty poor job with the training, mainly because they were understaffed when I was hired (I think some people had just quit). Also, it's very difficult to go somewhere in this company without being fully committed to it. I don't plan on working in this field for a career, and so I feel kind of stuck. I'll probably switch jobs soon.

Pros

I’ve been fortunate enough to work with a company that has so much room for growth and promotes within. I started with MAC in 2013 as a Behavioral Therapist in one of our early intervention centers. From the beginning of my experience with MAC I’ve had so much support and guidance from my supervisors. Whether it was Applied Behavior Analysis questions or professional growth this company has been there to help guide me. The company also has several team building events throughout the year that help you create and maintain friendships within the company. I highly support and recommend MAC and their mission to everyone.

Cons

You will be tired at the end of the day as you probably have jumped on a trampoline, skipped down the hall way, or played ball with a child. However, one of the benefits of working with MAC is seeing the children light up as you're teaching them these new skills.

Pros

I see a lot of negative talk about MAC online, which is why I feel inclined to write about my experience working for Minnesota Autism Center. I think a lot of the negativity probably has to do with the type of work, which is not for everyone. However, I have found MAC to be a great place to work. First and foremost the clients are just purely amazing, I don’t really have words for how much joy they bring. The MAC programming really helps these youth develop integral life skills. It’s the first human service job where I have seen such huge progress with clients in such a short time frame. As an employer, I feel like they have my back, I have supportive supervisors who provide great insight, and the best colleagues! I also love how each season there are a variety of annual events that we put on: picnics, field days, musicals, garden clubs, sport clubs, basketball tournaments, and the list goes on. There is never a monotonous day at work!

Cons

I would take a lot of the negativity online with a grain of salt; with any job there are challenges, especially in mental health, but the challenges at MAC have to do with them demanding an environment for these kids to flourish. Simply put, MAC is a great place to work, and the best place for these kids.
