Pros

-Somewhat flexible schedule (although my manager would demean me if i wanted to actually flex time which was allowed.. you were expected to work the standard 9-5 regardless of being a flex employee) -Free coffee -Free tea -Room for "advancement" -Comfy chairs?

Cons

-Favorites, most managers had favorites. If you challenged the status quo, you were labeled as someone who needed to go. -Management was always the first to know (aka layoffs and other politics) yet lower employees were always the last to know. Essentially, you found out corporate info through the news prior to your manager. -Environment did not allow for a healthy work life. You were expected to sit down, put your head down, and work. -No applicable professional development. Rules were all "made up" and no real work experience could be applied once you leave Moda. -Health insurance through Moda as an employee was more expensive with less benefits than my current job which is not in healthcare. Absolute shame! Set the standard for other employers in the market, don't be bottom of the totem pole... -Mandatory Saturdays if claims are backed up... Start time was 6am! MANDATORY 6am overtime on saturdays.... So much for work/life balance? -Last but certainly not least..... HR. Human Resources was incredibly shady. They pulled me into their office after they had obtained a personal text I had sent to a coworker about the layoffs. They warned me to keep my mouth shut. This was incredibly inappropriate and quite frankly was none of their business as I never signed a disclosure agreement upon employment. Be honest with your employees and stop hiding the truth from them!

Pros

Despite no healthy cafeteria options available on site, the location allows for some choices downtown Portland. Or employees need to always bring in lunch

Cons

Lacking in communication from leadership. No strategy. No clarity of vision or insight what senior leaders are accountable for. Need to clean house and bring in new talent able to drive real change

Pros

Downtown Portland, Public Transportation.

Cons

Total Micro Management with no room for progress, innovation or new ideas. The training department at Moda is simply terrible. The 2 managers of that department play favorites. If you are an external job seeker beware. There are always openings in that area because they like to enforce the 90 day probation period. If you don’t do things their way they will let you go on day 89 without any prior notice. Pay attention at the interview to the names of the systems they use. They are under the impression that they are using the latest and greatest, maybe because the managers of that department have worked at Moda since the beginning of time and they have no concept what is going on in the real world. If you bring this fact to their attention or give your opinion, just pack up your desk and get ready to leave. Bottom line, you do it their way and no other way. Also if you show an interest in getting to know other people in other areas of the company, they don’t like that either. You could say that this is just another angry review by a disgruntled employee and a company like Moda wouldn’t have managers in those roles if they weren’t qualified and deserving. Let the turnover speak for itself.
