Lots of Opportunities

Pros

Moda has a very entrepreneurial culture. If you have a good idea, people want to hear it, and you can make things happen. That creates a very exciting work environment, where things are changing constantly and people are always looking for new opportunities to make things better. I personally believe this is one of the core reasons why the company has grown so much over the last few years. I truly believe Moda cares for their employees. We have a 7.5 hour work day here. Not that I work only 7.5 hours every day, but that is a strong signal that people are expected to work a reasonable number of hours - meaning, not too many. Last year the company gave everyone an extra vacation day as a bonus after a particularly busy time. I've never heard of a company doing that. What a nice gift that was.

Cons

The company has grown fast and this has led to some weaknesses in processes, infrastructure, etc. So be it - more opportunities for motivated people to fix things!

Moda Health is the worst place I have ever worked

Pros

They are closed on the weekends but having said that Moda has everyone working mandatory overtime no matter what department you work in at least once a month. They don't mention that during the interview. In fact they don't mention a lot of things until they hire you.

Cons

Moda's systems and training are in the dark ages. The managers have worked at Moda since they were ODS so the act like they are better than everyone else. Everything seem like an inside joke and if you are a new employee you feel like an outsider and are treated that way. It's a very cold and distant atmosphere and the morale there is really bad. When you start working there you are really excited but the excitement fades as you begin to realize just how badly managed the departments are and also how bad the training is. Then when its too late you are stuck in a really bad job at a really bad company.

Pros

Depending on the department there are employees who are really hard working and want the best for Moda’s customers. They want to do the right thing which is unusual in this industry where the bottom line is the only measurement of success.

Cons

I agree with the previous comments that it is a very political environment with little or no room for advancement unless your part of the “clique”. If you are the lucky few to be part of the “clique” then you will get the tap on the shoulder to move to the next level. There is also no respect with certain leaders in the company. Most recently a leader was recently promoted to directorship and this caused a lot of jokes, chuckles, and rolling of the eyes with the masses who perceive this individual as not pulling his weight. There are also nicknames about this individual who is related to one of the main leaders that is being freely bantered by his peers behind this individual’s back. This type of culture breeds animosity and lack of respect for those that are using these nicknames. I strongly agree that there is bullying and even shouting at some meetings by certain leaders that is appalling and should not be tolerated by anyone regardless of title. I also worry that there is some age discrimination going on with employees who have vast experience in the industry but because of their age and not being part of the “clique” they are not compensated fairly. Moda needs to watch this closely before a lawsuit is filed.
