Pros

If you like making people happy then the upside to working as a Newborn Photographer is thrilling and celebratory.

Cons

Periodically, you will travel to your assigned hospital with the result of no babies to photograph. Since most hospitals require you to arrive in the morning you have the rest of the day free. Not good if you don't work elsewhere. Management requires you to be available 5 days per week, the hours vary depending on how many babies were born, and which are given clearance by the parents to be photographed. The pay is commission based so sometimes its a gamble. Who can work for no pay?

Pros

i get to work with babies and new parents everyday creating beautiful memories for them. i love my hours and i have been working for 7 yrs now and pretty much get to work where and when i want to. i now make about $2000 a month... i work about 30 hrs a week and i am very happy with my job!

Cons

it takes a long time to build up your pay and get where i am now but if you love photography and are married with a joint income and it doesnt matter how much your check is at first then building up your pay and getting good at photography and selling it is ok

Pros

Learning a bit more about basic photography; making parents happy with beautiful pictures; benefits although you're part-time.

Cons

I have only been with the company a short time (hired 1 month ago) and I have already been sent to a very low producing hospital an hour away to train someone! I was told that I was their savior and would only be at this hospital for a month, but I'm not so sure. There should be better compensation. I'm not 100% confident in my OWN training yet, much less, ready to train someone else! And if you get a chance to talk to any other grunts (fellow photographers) they will undoubtedly express their dissatisfaction, or let you know they're leaving and it's their last day!
