Pros

Great product to a technical audience

Cons

You used to be able to make a lot of money here before they changed the entire comp structure for 2023. Unfortunately, success is completely now based on your patch which has to be earned. Can’t get any accounts that will get you close to your quota if you haven’t been there for at least a year. The managers vary greatly from team to team and there’s lack of consistency with the role and the expectations. Most EAEs are basically just glorified SDRs till you are 6 months to 1 year out of ramp. The comp is also below industry average, and can vary team from team. Base pay for EAEs with same quota and experience can differ. No one interacts with sales team that’s siloed on their own floor. Wish I had seen the office before I joined to realize how big the egos of this team were. The people I met in the interviews sold me the world, but that was not my experience in the office. I should have asked to see what it was really like and meet the the other teams.

Pros

Flexible with the pandemic - provided equipment so I could fully do the work comfortably

Cons

Little to no documentation, never updated Management has lack of experience and lack of certifications, basically little to none Power trips are frequent with no HR support Women are especially treated poorly - mass exodus of talented and remarkable women at all levels, many with outstanding career moves. MongoDB is filled with people that have been there for 7+ years that wont cut it anywhere else and <2 year folks that are still sniffing out the awful environment. POC treated exceptionally poorly Departments do not 'work together' more concerned with making each other look bad The gossip culture is out of control Lip service when it comes to DEI, they have one training a year, looking at attendance list - little to no leadership joined in the discussions. Also no follow up to change the culture Reporting microaggressions to a C-Suite contact and was hushed about it because it was a new manager that 'didn't know any better'

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We respect your concerns and take them seriously. New manager training continues to be a focus for us as we strive to develop internal talent and support their journeys into management. We are also deeply committed to our company value “Embrace the Power of Differences” and creating a culture of inclusion by building a diverse workforce. We have an Employee Experience team available to help employees who feel they are facing instances of bias, as well as a People Services and Diversity & Inclusion team that can assist further if needed. Our leaders have an open door policy and are available to hear more about the MongoDB employee experience either through small intimate group discussions or one-on-one conversations. We encourage you to reach out to your team leader or HRBP to discuss any thoughts you may have. The more information we have, the better we can help address issues. If you would be open to sharing more, please reach out to your designated HRBP or email our Senior Employer Brand Manager, Jess Katz, at jess.katz@mongodb.com.

Pros

If you are male and coming from banking, this org is starting to look more and more like a bank in terms of culture. So you'll fit right in.

Cons

Company is bleeding underrepresented groups, particular women in engineering. There are a few token women engineering leaders and the rest you'll find buried in the org chart. There are entire orgs in engineering where you will have a hard time finding *any* women. Really? In this day and age? There is a hole in this boat, and the recruiters are trying to bail water while leadership wonders why they can't retain top female talent anymore. There is also a sort of caste system in HR where "leaders" have one HR rep who focuses on puffing them up while the "workers" get a different HR rep who is powerless to help them.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback; we respect your concerns and take them seriously. We are deeply committed to our company value, “Embrace the Power of Differences,” and creating a culture of inclusion by building a diverse workforce and ensuring everyone feels a sense of belonging. We continuously strive to increase representation and have developed a diversity recruiting strategy to support this. Our attrition is also in line with our current representation. We have done several things to ensure this: - In 2018, we signed the Parity Pledge in an effort to increase representation for VP roles and higher. - We continue to ramp up our efforts to access talent from underrepresented communities through our ten external strategic partnerships, including six that focus on increasing access to women and women-identifying tech talent, and have adopted tools that enable inclusive hiring. - We’re piloting a mentorship program for employees from underrepresented groups. - We have specific gender diversity goals in place for our Engineering department to ensure our candidate slates are as diverse as possible. In regards to our HR Business Partners (HRBP) structure, we follow a standard model, where each business unit or function has an HR Business Partner leader who works with the leadership team to define and execute a relevant HR strategy for that part of the business. These HRBP leads also have a small team working with them to ensure employees at all levels of the organization are well-supported when it comes to matters of talent, organizational design, and culture. In addition, we have an Employee Advocate who is available to coach employees who feel they are facing instances of bias, as well as a People Services and Diversity and Inclusion team that can assist further if needed. We are continuously working to create a culture of growth, learning, and development. Several of the ways we do this is through providing support, coaching, and enablement for all employees. Feedback is a key part of this process. If you would be open to sharing more, please get in touch with your People Partner or send an email to jess.katz@mongodb.com.
