Pros

Biggest pro is that if you make the right friends, you get you keep your job.

Cons

They had a lay off in December and act like it didn’t happen. The leaders of the recruitment org will not partner with the leaders of the company to let them know when we shouldn’t be hiring. There are way too many people in sales with no accounts, and no one is trained properly because leadership doesn’t put the right people in place to make the org better and more organized.

Pros

Excellent pay & benefits, remote work, nice office stocked with snacks. A chance to work with diverse people abroad and around the US. Good products. People are generally kind. Flexibility. CEO is an approachable nice guy who seems to genuinely cares about people.

Cons

Heavy-handed upper leadership trickles down to other leaders. Lack of support/direction/coaching in some parts of the company results in a workforce that is scared to take ownership. Many become box-checkers rather than going the extra mile, because that is safer. After an extensive interview process, rules require Leadership to sometimes dismiss people too hastily, rather than work to coach better behavior/skills over time. New people had better catch on quickly. Woke company. CEO sometimes emails the workforce with his views on current events. Mid-size company with a lot of small-company processes and inefficiencies. Lack of cooperation between silo-ed company organizations results in inefficient processes.

Pros

Direct leadership, pay is good

Cons

Beware that you might get laid off with absolutely no warning in a mass layoff with no support from management, after they promised that we were safe and in a good spot!

We are sorry to hear about your experience at Motive. We have recently adjusted our strategy going into 2023 to align with shifting markets. Our level of investment has to align with the addressable opportunity, which means we’ve unfortunately had to scale back in areas with low growth forecasts within the business. For employees that have been impacted by these changes, we’ve started a Motive Alumni Directory for impacted employees to opt-in to share their personal contact information and areas of expertise to help get in front of employers who are hiring. Motive is here as a resource, so please don't hesitate to contact us at opendoor@gomotive.com to share additional thoughts and feedback.
