Good place to learn and grow, but a poorly managed company with deficient leadership

Learning environment Growth Opportunity to work without guidance, take initiative, and learn through experience The biggest pro by far is the opportunity for learning and growth. Often you are thrown into a problem or situation and tasked with figuring it out from scratch, it can be difficult but is really a great experience. It’s a learning environment overall and colleagues are helpful and willing to help you along. I’m very grateful for my experience at Mu Sigma.

Poor leadership and management Culture badly lacks trust between management and employees Compensation is below industry standards - direct competitors pay significantly more for nearly identical roles. The takeaway from the company overall for me is the poor quality of the leadership. I enjoyed the work I did and my colleagues, but had little to no faith in the long-term prospects of the company due to the leadership team (LT). Obviously that begins with the CEO, who I think may be a pretty brilliant salesman, but in my personal opinion sorely lacks the ability to lead or manage people in any capacity. I certainly have a negative opinion of the job hes's done. Mu Sigma explicitly pitches itself as a founder-centric company, which is true, unfortunately that means all of the the founder’s flaws are also encoded in the company (and the LT) as well. It’s a commonly-known thing within Mu Sigma that the company is much better at selling than delivering. Most employees don’t feel like leadership has any regard for them whatsoever, overall there is a stark lack of trust between employees and the LT, and I think that is continually reinforced by the actions and words from the LT. [Most recent example of this is the whole deal about the very restrictive bonds/contracts offered to new grads/TDS’s - not hard to find more about this online.] There’s ostensibly opportunities to raise concerns or thoughts with leadership in different forums, but when that happens I’ve never seen it be well-received. The extremely low regard Mu Sigma has for its employees is continually reinforced and reflected in their decisions, actions, and policies all the time. They do invest in the growth and training of young people, which is a big pro. But they expect that investment to be sufficient for retaining control over those people in spite of the treatment of them and lower compensation than they could otherwise receive. Overall, I unfortunately wouldn’t recommend anyone I know taking a job with Mu Sigma - although it could still be the right decision for some.
