Pros

Our leadership at Multiquip is strong, decisive and innovative but collaborative and accessible at the same time! Bob Graydon, our CEO, is a pleasure to work for. He is very approachable, easygoing and makes it his business to stop and say hello to all employees and ask them how they are doing. One of our core values, my personal favorite is... It's Not Business - It's Personal. This is a reminder everyday for all to strive to be the best at servicing our customers.

Cons

Employees are in three different buildings. This will end soon as we are moving our corporate headquarters to Cypress.

Multiquip Headquarters Update - As of late September 2019, we now have all employees at headquarters on one floor instead of spread out between three buildings. Based on the feedback from our employees, I think everyone would agree that our CEO, Bob Graydon did a fantastic job to create a beautifully designed and state of the art work environment.

Thank you for your review and feedback. We are always glad to hear responses from our employees regarding our family atmosphere and welcoming environment. Creating and maintaining a positive work environment is extremely important to our CEO and the rest of our management team. In addition, our culture and values lay the foundation for who we are and the type of employees we want to hire and retain. As for the lack of training and development, please note that we do emphasize development plans during performance reviews and expect every manager to work with their direct reports to create development goals. We also offer over 100 e-learning courses on a wide array of topics. I would encourage you to talk to your manager about development opportunities you are interested in or stop by the HR department so we can help come up with a plan. Thank you!

The people make it a great company

Pros

This is a great place to work. You would expect to see a lot of turnover if people were unhappy or felt that management didn't care. That's not the case at Multiquip. MQ People are committed to the company and its customers and this helps to account for its many long term employees. While turnover is normal, you don't see a revolving door with its personnel - people join the company and they tend to stick around. Carson is located 20 minutes south of downtown LA and almost everybody has a considerable commute. Some people live in the surrounding South Bay / Long Beach area, yet many others live further away and continue to make the drive. It may be an overused term - but it is very much like a family. There are many opportunities within the Carson facilities in sales, engineering, sales support and assembly. I have witnessed many individuals rise up through the ranks - there is always opportunity for advancement. Senior management is evolving, seeking new ways to grow the business and deliver products and services our customers demand. The company started in 1973 and in that time many of its competitors have folded, been acquired or seen their market share diminished. Multiquip has remained relevant and respected within the construction equipment and power generation industries. Had the company been content to rest on its laurels, ignored the need for continuous product development, or not treated its employees and customers with respect it would not have lasted over 40 years.

Cons

The company runs very lean, making it hard to get the internal administrative staffing that many larger companies take for granted. This places a burden on the rank and file to get more done with less. Typically, MQ people find ways to get the job done - but it doesn't have to be this hard at times.

Thank you for taking the time to share such a thorough review. A family environment is very much part of the MQ culture and we are proud to have so many long-term employees who have been able to grow alongside the company. Our commitment to development and growth will continue as it aligns with one of our key company values - Keep Evolving, Never Settle!
