Pros

Good experience, great colleagues, good local management.

Cons

Almost no benefits or perks, the break room is so small it may as well not exist with only a single seat for 30+ people. Upper management listens to problems but never acts on them, so problems never get solved. You will not feel like a valued employee, and most people are counting the days untill they find a better job so they can leave. Sales staff next door look down on support staff, leading to a bad atmosphere.

Pros

Weekly breakfast on Fridays, a better bonus program than I have received at other companies, recognition from executive teams for hard work, and more. Our team is incredibly diverse with a group of team members coming from a wide variety of backgrounds. Lots of room for advancement if you are willing to put in the effort. Leadership allows you to run with your ideas and will support you every step of the way. I have worked in start ups and large organizations across the silicon valley and I am absolutely thrilled to work for NETGEAR. Another great benefit is that your personal insurance (employee only) is covered by the organization as long as you complete a few simple objectives for health!

Cons

401k is pretty decent, but matching could be improved a bit. I wouldn't say that NETGEAR is the best "first job" type of place. Employees here tend to be more seasoned so expectations are higher than other places.

A relic from the days of the early internet...

Pros

The benefits are very good

Cons

Working at NETGEAR is like stepping into the early internet boom, in a bad way. Behind the times is an understatement. HQ is like the movie Office Space. There are no meaningful perks, all systems are archaic, and incompetence runs rampant. Very few women are in power. Anyone under age 50 is treated like a clueless child with nothing to offer. A lot of the products don't even work well. It's incredibly hierarchical, which makes it nearly impossible to get things done. Opportunities for creativity/new ideas are nonexistent. The CEO openly says it is not a democracy - what he thinks is law.

Enjoyed My Time There

Pros

Enjoyed working with the people. Most were very competent. Good benefits and bonus plan. Company is willing to get you the tools needed for the job. Good quarterly lunch and after work events. They try hard to balance high work demands with little but meaningful perks. Overall, a pretty good place to work.

Cons

Lots of overseas calls at night that you need to support. Many seem to thrive on how late they can schedule meetings and send emails out - I never got hassled for not responding to emails till morning so it didn't bother me that much, but I know others were expected to be responding to emails at any time, day or night. I believe they value their employees, but if they need to show profit, or make a quick shift, they'll layoff people pretty fast to make Wall Street happy.

Pros

Great co-workers. Good salary and benefit package.

Cons

Decision-making is too centralized. Lower level managers have little or no decision-making power. Upper management lacks a culture of innovation. There is too much bureaucracy.
