Pros

Flexible work schedule. Self insured for health/dental offering no premium cost to employee.

Cons

Expected to keep doing more with no additional resources, outdated technology and poor direction from management. Everything is a bandaid fix.

Pros

Good benefits package with health and dental paid 100% for employee and dependents. Time off policy is pretty good, and the portal I worked in provided a work from home day once per week and had a good location in a downtown setting. In general you'll get good experience with software, ecommerce, and IT operations which will help you move on to other more rewarding positions at other companies.

Cons

Not a super innovative company and after awhile the products get kind of boring to work on and maintain. The systems and processes seem overly complicated as many services rely on third party integration or the corporate office which is in Kansas. Because of this the maintenance on products is a nightmare, a constant task, and stifles productivity. If you want to move up the ladder you will almost certainly have to move to another state. Maybe this is a good thing for you, but it was not for me. GM and other directors tended to look the other way or flat out ignore when there was an issue with morale or a problem between employees. This created some pretty toxic situations between tech and non-technical resources. There were even some managers who would disrespect employees to their face and behind their back which did not help with developing a strong culture. Pay is far below market value (20-30%) and for this reason turnover can get high when the economy is strong. Pay raises are very small (2-3%). If you are killing yourself you might get a 5% bump. Bonus structure was really designed for executives. The execs will make 5 figure bonuses while the grunt workers are lucky to get enough to cover a couple grocery store trips. Better than nothing, but come on.

Pros

- Good "work/life" balance. Your personal life will be respected. - Decent benefits - Work from home day - Doing work you know will affect many people - Yearly tech conferences

Cons

- Non-innovative culture - Software teams are constantly swimming in maintenance nightmares - Slow moving - Breeds complacency and mediocrity, from my experience - Stagnation leads to quite a few disgruntled employees
