Pros

At one time was a fun place to work and was an enjoyable experience. Learned a lot about the industry.

Cons

The lender placed insurance portion that now falls under National General has been bought and sold 5 times in the 8 years of my employ. The companies that purchase do not have enough time invested or care to understand how the Direct management team leads basically by fear. I have seen many times where if they don't like someone not necessarily due to performance they will nit pick thru files or hold higher expectations if you don't go along with them. Again not related to performance. I had questioned numerous employees and almost all felt the way management treated them was with sarcasm, they discouraged input from non management employees. They have disciplined for individuals in group meetings. Fired someone who was there for 8 years and spoke up about the way they were being treated. They built a case by digging thru files and fired them for performance. This individual was always above goals in their metrics. One of the companies we were under had us do a survey which brought management issues to light. Instead of taking any responsibility they blamed these issues on remote workers. A successful program implemented by Bank of America when they owned us. It was a control issue for management who was never really keen on the work at home program. Management made the immeasurable metric of not being "Engaged" as the source of problem. From then on it was a matter of time before the remote program went away.

Pros

Easy to attend events in CLE after work Decent pay I loved my co-workers dearly!!! They helped get me through my work weeks and were great motivation!

Cons

Management takes no responsibility for its failures Many lies are told to keep you from leaving From previous comments.....you can see my point NGIC is a company consistently changing processes....If you offered ideas to change/make better structures for handling claims-fired! If you noticed a management position available-someone was already in-line for job(favorite) and if you spoke about this "favoritism"-fired! If your manager was bad at their job and you mentioned it to General Manager/HR/Any Manager-ignored and fired! If you informed management of struggling with EXTREMELY LARGE WORKLOAD-fired! If you wanted a raise at yearly review-fired! If you were a high-paid claims adjuster with previous experience- ALL WERE FIRED!!! If you wanted to switch positions like SIU/RV/Commercial- Management enabled you for a pay increase to keep you as an MD!!! No one will take on a harder role without pay incentive!!! If you took a lunch- be prepared to stay late as this is not even close to a 50/60 hr workload!!! If you think it has great benefits...LIE. $1500 deductible and must take a physical with blood test HR is a joke!!!!!!!!!!! Extremely unprofessional!!!!! Please take caution with reporting ANYTHING to HR and get everything in email bc they will deny ever speaking with you in-person!!!!!!!! HR doesn't answer its phone and won't return your voicemail until 4:50pm. HR is one of the easiest jobs at NGIC and that still had errors....they handle benefits, employee relations, and parking.....how do you mess up someone's benefits? When you see reviews with 1-2 stars, those are actual employees/former employees of NGIC. Anyone saying its 4 stars and a great place.....they didn't work claims in CLE. Yes the technology at NGIC sucks and they do have an I.T. department. You almost didn't mind the technology not working once a week so you could get a break from your 7 hrs straight at your desk!!!!!!!! I know I'm being negative in this comment but NGIC is the worst!!!!!!!! I'm an extremely happy person and I lost that happiness at NGIC. I left this job without having another one in line because I couldn't handle the bs. I work another insurance job (which I was scared to take) and I like it. I feel respected, appreciated, and taken care of by the company. ****Please know you are just a number at this organization, no one will help you with your human needs, and if you act like a robot and don't want to grow with the company.....you'll survive

Horrible Work Environment

Pros

There are none; even if you get paid well, it is not worth the stress and loss of life you will have if you work here.

Cons

Management is unprofessional. They talk poorly behind others backs (especially the ones who work below them). Management is mentally abusive. They set unattainable expectations of work loads. Benefits are horrible and are for high premium. Company almost prides themselves of having a culture of yelling/scolding at subordinates and each other rather than leading.
