Pros

Good co-workers to work beside. Some of the management is nice and you can tell they're just doing their job and what they have to do. You can tell the way they have to treat the sales people affects them.

Cons

Revolving door. Highest turnover I've ever experienced. Out of your entire class, maybe two if any will be there 3 to 4 months from your hire date. They hire talented people but don't invest the time in them that they claim they will. They will tell you it takes about a year to figure out the job but will only keep you a few months even if you show improvement and follow all their steps. They had an internal issue caused by executives that caused a lot of good people to lose their jobs.

Pros

Fairly standard health/vacation benefits. Employee volunteer fundraising committee encourages community involvement and philanthropy.

Cons

Management/owners do not care about staff — 100% churn-and-burn atmosphere where employees are expendable. In fact, they even encourage it in the sales area so that new hires call on the leads that won't make any money for commission-based veteran reps. If you're not in commission-based sales, expect to make a pittance — company HQ was intentionally relocated to a small college town to take advantage of new grads who may not know they're being mistreated. Impossible expectations for staff (unless you know who to call to bargain your way around the rules) that actually do not benefit the company's clients. Completely focused on quantity over quality — if you're a prospective client looking for anything other than sales, run. Company shut down most of its production facilities in Winnipeg where it was founded in order to cheaply outsource to India. Stubbornly maintain processes that are actually detrimental to the business. Treat staff like they're children — employees are actually supposed to call in each morning to listen to a recorded message telling them what attire they are allowed to wear based on the previous day's sales. Rolling layoffs not uncommon. Extremely high turnover. Atmosphere of fear and cutthroat ranking-based evaluations.

We greatly appreciate the input and feedback you have provided Naylor. Our managers, and work environment collectively, aim to care for all employees and encourage learning and growth. The manager-employee relationship requires efforts on both parts, and managers expect employees to prove their value to the company. Our managers act as mentors to new employees and guide them into the transition in the position. Sales are a challenging role, and meeting goals and facing rejection are large components of the position. However, our management strives to prepare our employees for the position and guide them through as they continue with the job.

Pros

Employees are friendly and management genuinely wants to see you succeed. If you do well, the rewards sweeten the pot quite a bit and make it more enticing. If you come in with the right attitude, they'll give you more opportunities and give you better territories.

Cons

For new reps, most of the projects you're put on are not appealing. No one wants to participate in these member directories because no one uses them! Find ways to evolve because no one wants to advertise in a yellow pages book that only reaches a 1000 people. The prices are also way too steep for what it is. Hearing no is almost a given because publications are generally useless.

Thank you for providing Naylor with your input regarding your experience with our company. The nature of the advertising we sell is geared specifically towards associations and being an association management company, changing the nature of the advertising would be ineffective. As far as training, the training program becomes progressively employee-led as the weeks progress. By having the trainers present in the room for half of the time, we aim to teach our employees to be self-sufficient and teach themselves as they continue with the training. Sales goals are set to encourage our employees to go above-and-beyond, rather than just make daily goals. By increasing the sale goal each day, we hope to encourage our employees to continually grow.
