Pros

Executive leadership communicates well with employees

Cons

Too worried about best places to work status and not enough concern about innovating and staying industry relevant as a leader. Hired a bunch of loser ex Sun employees at different levels and they are struggling with mediocrity across the organization. They do not operate like a true high tech company but more like a bank as they are slow to change and get things accomplished

Pros

The best part of NetApp is the people. They genuinely want to help customers succeed with NetApp products. They are very collaborative and will go outside their job functions to help where needed.

Cons

The culture at NetApp has changed significantly in the 8 years I was there. Much of this change has been driven by poor management and poor quality control. The hard push to adopt cDOT before it was ready for prime time has driven many large customers away from NetApp or has significantly damaged relationships. Attrition is happening for good reason. NetApp is no longer the company it use to be where they did whatever was needed to ensure the customer had an outstanding experience and a quality product. It is really a shame how badly the culture has deteriorated in the past few years. Work/life balance is driven by the organization you work for. In some groups, there is an expectation that you will be available and work 7 days a week, even if the work is not urgent. If you aren't available and responding to email on the weekend, expect a poor review. NetApp has changed from a company of leaders to a company of managers.

Pros

Some co-workers are nice. Besides that, I cannot find any pros.

Cons

-package is not competitive - not diversity - very political, especially in the WAFL and Data Protection Group, managers don't care the product and their people, they only care how to look better in his/her boss's eyes and how to move up - most of the managers are not fair, those who have good personal relationship with the managers no need to work and get promoted easily - culture favors the person who can talk well, not the person who can work well but not good at talk
