Pros

The people you work with will be the best asset. Working in the Midwest, the people become like family and really care about each other. I can speak for other geos. Pay is good and benefits are great.

Cons

Leadership has no appreciation for talent. Teams are pitted against each other. The "culture" is constantly talked about but at the end of the day, leadership will sell their own grandparent for shareholders. Take note, they are no less slimy and elitist than any other publicly traded company, they just like to talk about the "culture" because they feel it keeps employees distracted from what is really going on. Layoffs are a constant and very real fear.

Pros

Was a comfortable place to work. Camaraderie was great, people worked together. Good perks and benefits.

Cons

I started in 2014 by which time 2 major layoffs had already happened. Sign of things to come. Too many Chefs in the kitchen and too many tools/products that should have been rolled together long ago. NetApp was too enamored with their flagship, DataONTAP 7-mode for too long. Too many middle and upper management having too many meetings to justify their jobs. Now they are going from 1 layoff/year to 2. Stay away till things stabilize, they are bought or they simply sink into the black hole of penny stocks.

Pros

Opportunity to save a struggling company if you can position yourself in the right role. The company compensates competitively and the company shuts down for a week in December every year.

Cons

You'll experience annual to biannual layoffs and most of the influential seats are already taken by people who are actually very smart but who are complacent long timers who lack the leadership disciplines and operations chops to make a material difference. ancomplacent avers to looking in the mirror when trying to determine the problem.
