NetApp's biggest flaw is that there are not enough opportunities to join the company because people tend to stay as long as they can. Everyone wants to refer someone they know, but there are only so many positions available.

The culture urgently needs reform and real oversight. 4. Culture: What used to be a supportive culture has taken a turn. Politics and favoritism have started to outweigh meritocracy. 5. Credit-Stealing: Recognition can be rare. Without a strong, supportive manager, it’s easy to have your work overlooked or claimed by others. 6. Lack of Career Growth: Upward mobility is very slow. If you're ambitious and looking to grow, NetApp may not be the right place unless you're okay with plateauing or returning after growing elsewhere.

It's a large tech company, so everything depends on whether you're working on the right team with the right manager. Try to assess where you will land from the beginning.

NetApp stopped promoting from within, especially upper management positions. This has been killing the culture for years now. New people, like at a VP level, will come in and fire 20+ year employees that are driving critical work and then turn around and promote managers to directors to get their allegiance. Not a company that you're likely to work at for more than 10 years because when layoffs happen they target the senior people.
