Pros

Overall a good culture and decent pay and perks. Not a "slave driver" mentality. Friday Beer-Bash is a great way to end the week. Facilities are very good.

Cons

401k match is poor. Upper management is very weak. Processes and tools are fairly weak. Lots of re-orgs and lay-offs.

Pros

* Awesome work culture * Friday Beer Bash * VTO (Voluntary time off) * Frequent all hands to know the company roadmap

Cons

* Frequent lay offs ( which started after 2012 ) * unnecessary mails matters to get the visibility in upper management * rating quota is fixed for each team in appraisal ( In small team if everyone is good, still the manager has to give low rating to someone in the team )

Pros

Nice work-life balance. Atmosphere that is simultaneously laid-back yet stimulating and hard-working. Friendly, intelligent, and approachable senior engineers - a rare trifecta! Culture that used to be amazing, now still OK but a shadow of its former self. Corporate sponsored beer-bashes. Solid perks/benefits, especially 401k match and onsite training courses.

Cons

Company has slowly been going downhill; Salary hasn't kept up with industry standard, layoffs have been an annual occurrence, and growth opportunities are becoming even more limited within the company. Instability - both in upper management and in the company's products themselves - has become a serious issue. Both these have combined to dramatically lessen employee morale.

Pros

Very nice facility in RTP along with Gym membership etc.

Cons

Having left NetApp for its competitor, I can see how much the writing is on the walls at NetApp. Terrible middle and upper management with absolutely no commitment to customers unless cases are escalated to them and then they would haul at the TSE and manager and make them scapegoats. I have never worked in a place where "Who" the customer is based on their history of escalations is THE ONLY thing that was important to management. They totally ignored customers overseas and missed a big portion of sales overseas. I cannot believe what a filthy set of leaders they brought all from Nortel who knew nothing and cared less about people and customers. It was all about them.

Pros

Actively pursuing new technologies. Great place to get beginning experience in the corporate world. Good benefits and competitive salaries.

Cons

Upper management seems to lack direction. Middle management is lost and unsure how to manage engineers. Most middle managers lack any real technical knowledge. There is little to no opportunity to grow here because it is already too fat at the top.

Pros

Gym at HQ Was fun for first 3 years Had opportunity to try different things. For those with tenure, vacation benefits were good

Cons

-Compensation has fallen behind other tech companies in Bay Area, especially if you are there for 5+ years like I was. Pay below market for that long can hurt financially as housing costs and regular expenses are sky high. -Promotions were hard to come by. Lots of favoritism and then no rationale for when you weren't chosen. -Raises were either non existent or subpar, even promotion raises. -Tons of politics. Step on the wrong VPs toes and you were blacklisted. People literally bend over backwards for this particular VP as well and those that are in good graces get preferential treatment. -Meetings were a nightmare mostly because the organizers lacked skills. Days would be filled to the brim with meetings so no chance to get work done unless putting in extra hours- but what motivation was there for that? -When first started, upper management focus was on gain of market share from EMC. In doing that they forgot about all the startups that are eating their lunch today. -HR completely nonsensical. Want to hire someone? HR for finance would follow old and outdated policies and we would lose candidates to other employers. -Slackers unite. Very easy for people just to collect a paycheck and do nothing of value. Low performers are coddled.

Pros

Great talent, good people, competitive compensation and benefits. When the subject of conversation is what we're working on and how we're doing our jobs, people are motivated and creative. Unfortunately, the company no longer values those qualities.

Cons

Morale is poor and the future is shaky. Everyone has to watch their back. Do not recommend to new hires. Employees cannot trust anyone in upper management. CEO uses silly words like "transformation" what he means is major layoffs and outsourcing to India. No innovation anymore, just working and reworking of old technology.
