Pros

Smaller company that is always hiring

Cons

Higher level exec's are not in communication with each other. Provides unattainable goals not specified upon hire. Old company that will not change their ways to the current logistics needs.

Pros

New Age used to be a great place to work, with lots of benefits, and a happy environment. As of 2013 everything went down hill. The mood changed, people were turning on each other. Everyone was overworked and underpaid.

Cons

You were consistently in fear for your job, the pay was terrible, benefits were slashed left and right. The health insurance was REALLY expensive. While I was there there were at least 2 times our pay was cut, and 2 rounds of layoffs due to it being slow. The owner doesn't care about anyone but herself, and will fire you if she thinks it's "too slow" - Literally, I have heard of her hiring people and 3 weeks later firing them because there wasn't enough business...... She has no loyalty to her employees that have been with her for 10+ years, she has no problem canning you - ruthless, cold hearted, and a phony. You would get the 3rd degree if you needed to take a half day for a Dr appointment or what ever else you had going on (people do have lives outside of work). They wouldn't allow you to come in a few hours late or leave a few hours early, you were required to take the entire day off. In the same breath they would make you stay past your normal shift if other dispatchers were having a hard time covering loads. Calling in sick? Expect calls from them to asking you to come in. They make you use a PTO day for the day after Thanksgiving, even though they're closed. Management never told you what was going on. They would have meeting after meeting after meeting, and no communication to the rest of the company on what was going on, leaving people in wonder and fear. You would be promised bonuses, and commissions that were continually being restructured and taken away, or when it came time to pay out, there was always some excuse as to why you don't get the bonus or commission you earned. I know of someone (in an upper management position) who was hired for a set salary, and then the owner went back on her word and cut this person's salary within the first few weeks of working there. WHO DOES THAT? - She was constantly cutting people's pay. Meetings on Saturday's, why not? - This was common and required. The only reason I gave 3 stars to career opportunities is that of the constant turnover. So they're always hiring for something! - As far as advancing your career at this company, there is no advancement. The employees have not had raises in years. There is nowhere to move up in this company. Where you are is where you will stay, unless they can you. MY ADVICE: If you have any other options, take that one, or you will regret it in a few months.

Pros

Carolyn Gable: if you haven't heard of her before, take 5 minutes to look at her life's accomplishments, even beyond her career. Her energy and positivity rubs off on a truly exceptional group of employees. Everyone there has a general care and concern for their fellow coworkers, and the cut-throat atmosphere of your typical brokerage is non-existant.

Cons

The shortcomings of the company are looked at and addressed continually. There is nothing out for the ordinary that you run into here. Software was updated in April. New Chicago office opened at the same time to add a new dynamic to the company.
