Pros

NHS has great training for someone that has never been in the industry before. Will teach you a great way to sell a home.

Cons

If you are a builder partner looking to join New Home Star, BEWARE! New Home Star wants NOTHING to do with your current sales staff! During my time with NHS, I was told by several people in management that they fully expect your sales people to be gone within a year so they can bring in their own people. I was once told to either record or take notes from an original sales person with the builder so we could learn everything we need to so they could just fire this person. If you are a builder partner, and you value your current sales employees, DO NOT partner with New Home Star!

Pros

There are no pros to working here

Cons

This company preys on inexperienced sales people and pays them less than half of the industry standard. By the time the new hires figure it out, they already have too much money entangled in "future commissions" to walk away. The company will constantly lie and change the rules to keep digging their greedy paws into your earned commissions. They treat their employees like slaves, demanding that you be available 24/7, while paying them 0.75% commission on real estate transactions, sales agents can make at LEAST 2% selling homes anywhere else without having to worry about their employer taking their commissions from them, there is no reason to ever apply or work here. They will also constantly shove their political beliefs down your throat so if you do apply here, I hope you have the same views as them, otherwise good luck.

New Home Star Response
3y
Thank you for providing honest feedback about your employment experience. New Home Star strives to create a culture that puts employees first, and our number one core value is to provide excellent careers for our people. Our executive leadership team reads these reviews, takes the feedback to heart, and thinks about how we can apply the feedback. In response to your review, we feel it's important to point out that New Home Star has many tenured employees. You described yourself above as being employed with us for 5-7 years. Pyramid schemes, lies, stealing commissions, treating employees like slaves, forcing beliefs on employees... It's hard to believe that anyone would stay employed with us for any extended length of time under the working conditions you've described. We want to learn more and understand how your experience unfolded. We urge you to reach out to humanresources@newhomestar.com so we can get a detailed account of your experience.

Pros

Robust sales training is helpful if you are new to this industry. However the training is geared towards 1099 independent contractors, although the company structure is W2.

Cons

I will vouch for the validity of the negative reviews. New Home Star lost their best performers and leaders due to their lack of foresight and integrity. Leadership is non-existent. The canned responses to the reviews on this site should be clue enough for you to stay away from this company.
